I have made up a cd of 22 unreleased tracks and live bits and other odd Mike stuff, but it occurs to me that Mike has a lot of stuff that is unrealeased from various albums,i know there was a lot left over from TB3,SODE,MB,and so on.But does anyone think that there will come a time when Mike will release a proper Box set of goodies?,i think there might be one(or more)but it won't be for a while yet,i know mike does'nt like to dwell on the past, besides some of the great stuff in his cupboards he might use for future albums.

Whether Mike will ever release the things he has hidden away in his cupboards, I don't know (though maybe that Tubular Bells demo will see the light of day sometime...), but there's a slim chance that some rare tracks (old singles and B sides and those sorts of things) might be compiled onto CD officially (it would be possible for someone with the resources to licence them from the record company and release them that way...), but of course there's nothing definite.

I'd imagine that a lot of the things which Mike hasn't released in one way or another are below a standard that he wants people to hear, but perhaps there are some surprises...

Yes, I would be very interested to hear the CD, but I won't ask you to mail it (the postal costs from you to Australia would be huge!;). I have heard that many people were hoping Elements might have more rare bits, so there is a lot of people wanting a real rarities box. Most of the stuff that he just stuck on singles as B-sides were all really good, so I would be very excited to hear some really rare stuff. I can understand, however, that he wouldn't want to release the really awful stuff, and a lot of the older ones would be with Virgin, and he won't want to have to cough up all the cash needed to get them.

You know, it never really has made sence to me, the concept of the recording company onwning the artist's songs. I mean, I know the company gives you the chance to record and release your songs, but if you change companys you shouldn't need to have to spend heaps of money to get a song that you wrote and recorded in the first place. Prehaps I just don't fully get the idea, I haven't done economics.

It doesn't make sense to a lot of people - Robert Fripp would be one of them. The record label that he runs, Discipline Global Mobile, makes a point of not taking ownership of the artist's work.

It's a money thing, though...the record company risks their money by investing in the artist's album, and in return gets the chance to make masses of money from it if it's successful (and owning the copyright gives them the chance to make masses more money from it).

[QUOTE] Mike says he doesent like to dwell on the past and then goes off to re-record tb1.To me celebrating the 30th with yet another version of tb is simply pushing your luck.In itself isnt enough anyhow,as this is a golden opportunity to do something very special-will we get it?I doubt it.
