Mike was a guest for the second time in December 1979 and I was lucky enough to be at the studio that morning. He really got into the spirit of the programme. The presenters and guests went outside to sing "The Bucket of Water Song" whilst being drenched by the fire brigade. Mike soon dried off and I saw him in the bar after the show. The other guests were The Tourists a.k.a. The Eurythmics. I remember going on the studio floor and standing close to the cage where "grown ups" were subjected to all kinds of messy things thrown at them. Not for the faint hearted. It was a very memorable experiece, but I'd love to see that programme again as I only saw it from behind the scenes - mostly in the sound gallery. Back to top

Takes me right back to Saturday mornings as a kid,I loved swap shop but Tswas was ace. Its amazing looking at this clip and seeing just how young mike was then. LOL at Chris Tarrent slagging of incantations infront of Mike. I must agree Incantations although not bad is one of my least favourite MO albums. I must have been about 8/9 when it was first shown so I have fond memories of the show. Tiswas/Swap shop were ground breakers for british TV before Tiswas there was nothing like this on British TV,most the kids shows were more like educational programs or puppet shows. The thing I loved about it 'as you can see from this clip' they had such great guests. if you got to show one of your videos on Tiswas or Swap shop in the morning,the kids would race out to buy the single in the afternoon so rock/pop stars were breaking their knecks to get on the show as it could send your song to number one the saturday record sales being that big. The format is still used today on all kind of TV shows kids and adults alike. Back to top
