Am I right this was originally credited to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra?
Mike was credited on the sleeve as composer and guest musician.

So ... officially this isn't a real Mike Oldfield album?
Although it's listed in most of his discographies credited to Mike.

I'd say that's right, it's not officially a Mike Oldfield album. I don't know whether they've changed the credits in recent editions, but the original credits are:

"The Orchestral Tubular Bells
Composed by Mike Oldfield
Arranged for Orchestra by David Bedford

Performed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
with Mike Oldfield on Guitar
Conducted by David Bedford"

As far as I know Mike didn't have very much more to do with the album than adding his guitar part either, apart from complaining that the orchestra wasn't getting it right. :)
