Help me narrow dow the song choice for my sheet music book or make suggestions for a Mike Oldfield Epic if you would prefer that.

The idea you mentioned in your video of having a few "mini epics" is a good one  I think. For example, if you transcribe "Taurus I" it would be great to have "QE2" as well since those are basically brother tracks. I always imagined performing both pieces by creating a segue from one to the other. Mont St. Michel could also be amazing in a solo piano arrangement. And also Orabidoo.

My heart is torn in two directions though because, while I would want the longer tracks like QE2, I'd love to have some of the shorter tracks like Taurus 3 and Argiers. Maybe you can do a few short tracks and 1 or 2 longer pieces? Frustrating!

Doing one of his 20 minute epics could also be great- though that is probably more daunting and may be a bit intimidating to your normal pianist who just wants to bang out some Mike Oldfield for enjoyment. Hergest Ridge in particular I think could be beautiful on the piano.

I see your point. Do you make a book of 10-12 short pieces, a book of 1 long piece, or a book 0f 2-3 10 minute plus tracks?

I am really swaying towards Oribadoo, Taurus I, Mont St Michel but its tricky.

Lets give it a week or so to gestate and see what people think.

I've watched your latest video, I thought what you do is pretty interesting. I'd love to help, but even though I do play keyboard instruments, I'm afraid I'm outside your target group, and I'm not sure that simply stating my favourite tracks would be helpful at all, as that is not the same thing as "tracks that would work well as piano transcriptions"... but best of luck with the project!

Thanks Holger for the reply.

I'm mentally eliminating pieces as I type so wont be long until I think I make a decision. Hoping more people will cast a vote though first.

Cheers

Any other takers?

Can't complain on the choices. Especially the last three are really beautiful pieces.

Now I just need to learn to read notation and play the piano.  :D

Argieres for me, no surprises there. This tune could form the basis of a Symphony or a solo piano piece just as easily, it is the jewel in the crown....

Sorry if I'm a bit pedantic here but do you have the music publisher rights to do this?

Are you a rights-holder?

Sorry, but you are being more than a bit pedantic. Ryan was trying to do something for fans who wanted to play Mike's music, but he became busy with other work and decided against this project for the time being.

No, I'm not a rights holder. I just don't want to see anyone getting trouble for anything.

Sorry for caring.
