For Disney fans:

Why is Herbie credited with pipes on Ommadawn when it's really Paddy Moloney playing them?

Because Herbie was to play 'em, but he got mad on his way to the studio and crashed into a wall. biggrin Alas, the album cover has already been committed to print...

Why did Maggie sing "only in the blue night" ?

Because she sang once in a blue moon... biggrin

I think I've found another one...but maybe it's a bit forced [as we say in Italian: "dragged by the hair" smile] Anyway I can't judge my own stuff. All of you out there judge it, pleeze. smile

Why did Bonnie Tyler sing "When the night's on fire, will you keep the candlelight burning" ?

Yeah, why the heck did she sing that? If the night is really on fire, then there's no need to waste the wax of a candle by lighting another flame!!!

biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin

OK, before anyone asks: "dragged by the hair" is an Italian idiomatic expression used to define something as slightly forced. It often refers to jokes, but it can also refer to answers to quizzes/riddles which are too forcedly absurd to be really credible and produce an effect. smile wink

Of course, there's a far more logical explanation...

Up until then, Mike had been going through regular crises. Taking the exegesis therapy meant the discovery of new self confidence for Mike. He took his guitars and his tubular bells and moved away from hergest ridge (a place where the 'radnor rumbles' can be felt, a time when you can feel the earth moving) after he'd recorded ommadawn. Mike had lots of money of course, and being a bit of a voyager, booked a cruise on the QE2 (he was particularly impressed by the platinum tableware on the ship). Sometimes during the nights on board he'd read his copy of the songs of distant earth. One night when the ship is about five miles out of the port he decides to go out on deck, but then the heavens open, leaving him feeling exposed without his raincoat. Mike was invited to the captain's table one night, where he talked for a long time with a journalist who had spent several years covering the events in the killing fields in Cambodia, someone who would later go on to cover the war in the Falkland islands.
On arrival home, Mike became more and more interested with tribal incantations, often being heard to yell "I am a rock" at the top of his voice.
Then he went and got his hair cut, because he found the way it dangled in his eyes really irritating.

(That was ridiculous...and I didn't even mention The Millennium Bell...or any compilations...but trying to fit those in would be like trying to get airborne without wings. I think most of the essential elements are there though and as we all know, first impressions are often important...See how many you can spot - answers on a postcard).

Korgscrew, you are a great wordsmith. Can I do my own version of what you posted (for this topic)?

BTW, just a quick joke (oh no):

What does Mike have with his fish and chips?

Sauce of secrets!!!!

Likes his sauce does Mike...why else do you think they called a bootleg 'The sauceror?' (sic wink)...sauce of secrets is a favourite...

I'm not going to stop you trying something similar to what I did there...in fact, I await its arrival eagerly...

But I must stop doing this before I cause a mass evacuation of the place...I was just an innocent bystander before I became guilty of silly things like this. But as I see the moon shine through the window, I can see the light that casts a shadow on the wall. Threatening shapes form on the walls, but tricks of the light such as this are common. As I sit trying to read a magazine in the darkness and see the pictures in the dark, I realise that a blue night such as this could exsist in no dream. A moonwatch always fascinates me...trying to find a dark star in amongst all the shining ones can prove difficult though.

Oh dear, couldn't stop myself...It must be the inner child in me that does it. In the beginning I had no plans for this sort of thing...living on this dark island must have put me in some kind of altered state. Maybe I should move to france. I doubt that's any more of a wonderful land than anywhere else though. I don't know - I'm hardly a mastermind.

If your moonwatch continues to be unsuccessful, Korgscrew, and you cannot find the star's end, I suggest you try crystal gazing instead.

TRY is the word indeed, for my attempt wink.

As I type this at the top of the morning here in Australia, my reflections on life in the UK are of constant crises, never being socially in high places. I remember almost always being a man in the rain, hardly ever seeing the sunlight shining through cloud, wearing an afghan sweater to keep warm, but then I heard songs from distant earth, that being Australia. Leaving from Portsmouth, I came to Oceania, but being English, felt a bit of an outcast. What was meant to be a new beginning had turned into bad news and help looked out of sight, until, from the ashes of despair, I saw the arrival of the hero. Clear light shone across the great plain of the West, as my liberation from my past began, as did my foreign affair with the land of Australia. Now, all I can see are broad sunlit uplands, rather than the dark island with the shepherd's warning of the red dawn.
In fact, it's so nice here I might have a dip in the pool. Often the water makes you feel quite weightless. If that seems a lot of moonshine to you, well, you try and get Froggy Went-A Courting into this. This is just a post to use some time up at the moment, I'm still working on my *cough* masterpiece biggrin. I think you'd better undergo an evacuation before I post again, and so should I, or I'll be looking at my execution. Oh, and by the way, the hero's attempts at peace on earth have so far failed. But:

I promised myself I wouldn't do this any more wink

All I can say is...what have I started?

Oh, and what comes at the top of the first flight of stairs in Mike's house?

I was going to give an answer, but I'll see if you can guess wink
