I really like those record companies. Really. They take the decision to remastered artist
catalog at a time you have bought every albums. I hope those remastered albums will
be good enough. Sometimes you don't hear a lot of difference from the original CD to the
remastered one, I remind me the case of the
Rush remasters back in 1998. Just another way
to get our money a second time.

But it could be a good thing considering the
poor quality of the artwork and sleeve design of the first editions. I think about it when
they will be release, the remasters, cause
I spent a lot of money on Oldfield's stuff. In my case, I need to replace 6 albums: Tubular Bells, Incantations, QE2, Crises and
Five Miles Out. I'm happy to have bought them
less than 10$ each. What price must we expect for the remasters?

I think remastered records are very useful. Now you can buy new album of the best compositor in the whole world and be shure, that this record is really good. If you bought a really new record, you wouldn't know is it nice - now you are sure (especialy if you bought TB,HR,OM,INC or AMRK)!

Remastering ?
Pffff....
Was it badly mastering last time ? So I want my money back !!! I bought a bugged version !!! A unreleased product !!! smile

For artwork : I don't know, for example, I prefear FMO' Vinyl Edition, with this marvellous mixing pattern in the centerfold. Of course, if you've got the picture CD, it's nice too, but... And when my CD is IN my cd player, I don't care at all of the artwork on it ! In all cases (IMO), a CD is VERY VERY too small for a good Artwork...

But, is this remastered are really needed ? Or does Virgin doing this only to try to surf over MO WEA and Berlin2K success ? Does MO really decide that the first released were such BAD that they should remaster them ? Did he listen them (what a scoop !!!) ? Will MO remaster them himself ?
I guess it will be Sound Engineer's vision of MO record, and not MO vision of his OWN music...

I won't buy the remastered CD :
TB : Vinyl, CD, Boxed, remastered...How many more ?????
In my country, CD are expensive. Yes they are ! So I agree to pay for a new music, but I certainly will not pay for 17 new album : they will cost 17x140 French Francs !

Of course, maybe some of oldest album could be improved by this remastering...

You know, they should do like software, a full price for major version, and only 10% for minor version... A kind of TB 1.3, HR1.1 etc wink

I have every album of Mike too, and now they come with the remasters. duh! smile

Well, I want to buy every remaster too, but I have to save up to more than 400 dutch guilders! smile

I hope it will feature unreleased pictures!
As for the artwork, I really hope they make something nice of it. And of course the quality.

you only need to remaster CD's if they are REALLY bad. if they are at a good quality you don't need to do anything at all.

Sorry York Pomov, all you get with them are a booklet with a note about the album and a lot of mistakes. If I remember the topic about this I will post it here.
I have four of the HDCD remasters (Hergest Ridge, Discovery, Islands and Heaven's Open) and I'm not sure about any major differences in quality or anything. I'm definatly not in a rush to go out and buy them all as well as all the normal editions.
