Don't know to much about it ,but heard it was a very good instrument .ground breaking in 1983 but by todays standards i have read it is not worth having as an instrument as it is neither a great sampler or a good midi controller,it is just big.average price used about 630 dollars.but saying that you have a piece of mikes history and is worth whatever somebody is willing to pay. :)

may you never run aground or fall into the deep deep sound

Hey
Thanks for that, But i dont want to sell it, it is a gift from my uncle.
Just must find out if i need to insure it, and to what value.
By the way It plays and sounds really quite nice,
however, it's huge!!
And takes up so much space in my somewhat restricted studio that i will not be able to leave it out on permenant display for all to see and use, which is a great shame as the rest of the keyboards in here are more up to date but lack the feel that most players enjoy.
Hav'nt worked out all the buttons yet, but the "Operator's Manual" is offering up a few clues. as are some old inscriptions on the keyboard itself whicch i believe to be in the master's own hand.
Talk about a peice of history :D

I think its value would depend on where it was being sold. Like with the Washburn guitar which sold recently, it's not one of Mike's signature instruments, so would have less collector value from that point of view. I don't believe it was used on any of his big-selling albums either, so loses that as a selling point. I would think that to raise its value to the general public, it would either need to have been used on Tubular Bells (or possibly Tubular Bells II, or maybe Moonlight Shadow) or be a set of Tubular Bells. Other than that, an instrument's connection with Mike probably wouldn't raise its value by too much.

However, having Mike's inscriptions on it does make it a fascinating piece of history. It would have been used on Islands. You'd probably find that a fan would pay a premium for that. The K250 is fairly sought after anyway, especially for its weighted wooden keyboard. I'd probably insure it for somewhere around £1000, perhaps even a little more.
