On May 28, Mike was on Spanish radio Cadena 100, in the 100x100 program with Javi Nieves and his team. Mike said that he will start re-recording Tubular Bells in one month and during 6 months with possibly John Cleese as MC, that he will do a tour next year with interactive games, and that he has 4 more songs to be recorded after the Tubular Bells project. tr3slunas.com has a transcript and sound bits. This FTP server has an MP3 of the interview (thanks, Santi Ruiz).
June 9 will be "Mike Oldfield's Day" on Spanish radio M80 which has already broadcasted themes from 'Tres Lunas' in their 'Musica Privada' program
(Thanks,
mR. SaTuRn)

Ok guys, the interview with mike has just ended. They have broadcasted Misty, Daydream and another one (I think it´s 3lunas). The rest has been a very interesting conversation. Here they are the main points:

- In a month he´s going to studio again to re-record TB I. He will be like 6 months doing it.

- Next year there will be a new tour (with the re-release of Tb I)

- He has four more songs which he will probably record after the TB project.

- He has the intention of doing a interactive game in next tours. He would like to give a lasser to the audience and, with it, try to have interaction with a screen on the stage (sorry, I don´t know how to explain it)

In general, it´s been a very funny conversation. There were lots of mails of the spanish fans. MIke seemed to be very happy.

Another thing: the three broadcasted tracks are f.... incredible!!! The saxo sound is in MIsty and it really sounds like a saxo

Sorry for my english!!!!!

They broadcasted excerpts from Misty, Daydream and Tres Lunas. (great!)

•••John Cleese (co-founder of Monty Phyton) will be probably the MC of the recording of Tubular Bells. I´M NOT JOKING

•••Mike Oldfield smokes Amber Leaf. http://web.ukonline.co.uk/arcadia.bell/Tobacad/c09_4c2.jpg

(we usually talk faster than the interviewer)

Anyway, the most surprising in all the interview was the: 'Well, I still gonna play it all by hand...' (talking about TB re-recording). I'm still surprised redface

He also was asked if Richard Branson already heard the 'secret message' in Amarok. Mike laughed at it and answered that Branson doesn´t know anything about Morse, smile

I have recorded some parts of the interview, but it seems you can read and download it on www.tr3slunas.com Very Nice web smile take a look!!

John Cleese? Hahahaha!

But I liked Mike's first suggestion of Rowan Atkinson better ;-)). Heck, maybe the two of them could share it! Or one of them be the Piltdown Man and the other can be MC hahaha.

Well I was supposed to go to the bank but stayed on to listen to Mike over at Cadena 100 via the Internet.

Very interesting conversation... and I have come to the conclusion that I really need to learn Spanish!! wink So I got a four CD set to teach myself and have some friends from various Spanish speaking countries who are going to help me smile

John Cleese as MC aye... can you see it now... Basil Fawlty saying... "and now for something Completely Different!" just before 'The Bell' starts or for that matter the piano intro at the very beginning of Tubular Bells. How bout this one... a slightly altered line from 'Fawlty Towers'... 'racket RACKET... that's Mike... Mike Oldfield's first racket' LOL :P

I believe someone asked him what he will call the new remake of Tubular Bells... but I don't remember him directly answering it... please someone correct me if I'm wrong... thanks! wink

I like the torch idea... giving the audience a democratic way of choosing what will happen next... very inovative!

Was anyone at the Valencia premier... how was it?

As for the sax sound in Misty... I really like Misty... but the sax seems VERY OUT-OF-PLACE in that type of space song... to me atleast!!! I'm not sure I like it yet... I rather liked the sound he produced back lastyear on one of samples... sounded like a cello meets guitar with sax in there too.

Still looking forward to album... June 3rd needs to hurry up and get here!!!!!! smile

Take it easy everyone smile

i hope that when MO re-records tubular bells, that he won't change any of the tunes, as then it would just be Tubular bells 4. I'm just hoping that he will do it with better instruments and fix some of the mistakes thathappened in it
