I've just read on the site about mike planning 'Simple melodies and atmospheres' for his next project.

I'm sure i remember, just after TB2003 was released, that mike said he asked people whether they preferred his shorter songs or long instrumentals, and that they'd said long instrumentals, so thats the way he was going to head.

I also remember him talking about a project done with tritones, which would be extremely interesting.

Personally, i feel another album of simple melodies and atmospheres, which is exactly what Guitars, Voyager and Tres Lunas were, is Mike stagnating, or simply marking time.

Albums like Amarok and Ommadawn are constantly talked about on any mike oldfield board or mailing list for very good reason. They are innovative, excellently performed and extremely immersive. I very much enjoyed Tres Lunas, it had some strong melodies, but can't see myself listening to it more than a few times.

I think an adventurous, long instrumental - which is in fact what Mike is most famous for, would not only gather more critical acclaim, but increase album sales dramatically, which might give Mike the oppurtunity to promote his 'maestro' game just that little bit more.

Stephen Patterson, Leeds, UK.

I,m with you on this , i beleive that the long insturmentals are what the fans wont to hear. I brought the Earth Moving Ablum a couple of months ago and sadly i wasn't impressed.
I haven't yet heard Guitars, Tres Lunas , Amorok or Voyager in full  , but hope to soon.....

Nothing wrong with doing a classic album over and over again. Then again, who the hell does that ! The TB-2003 was to me the last straw, honestly now, come over it !!! A TB 2004 featuring harmonica & spoons maybe? LOL What I would like to hear is the style of "The songs of Distant Earth" now that was a well crafted album.

I agree! The earth have good songs like: Holy, earth moving, blue night. But not soo good! The other songs like hostage, runaway son and see the light are in my word: noisy nonsense  :(   Innocent with Anita is too happy 80 music song. I think when i hear innocent: This is not MO!
The others: Nothing but and brigde to paradise is ok! But the whole earth is not soo good.  :/
"Earth" turn pale in my Mo collection! To many songs.. zorry!

Buy Guitars if you liked tubular Bells III! It have some infulence from tub3 i think. I can hear echoes in the songs like cochise and embers. I dont know why, but the same atmosphere is there! When i hear guitars I think rain, landskapes and cold weather.  ;)
