larstangmark Group: Members Posts: 1767 Joined: Mar. 2005 Posted: Mar. 13 2010, 18:13 Judging from the first four album I'd say Mike is his own best bass player (Ommadawn part 1!!!, but I think Hansford Rowe did a great job on the Knebworth video (not that he's so impressive on Platinum). Players like Rick Fenn and Phil Spalding did their job well but the bass playing doesn't exactly stand out. The Caveman Group: Members Posts: 2178 Joined: Jan. 2008 Posted: Mar. 15 2010, 05:37 Oh i dunno.There's some pretty damn impressive stuff on Crises from Mr Spalding.The speedy bits in the track Crises with Phil tracking the guitars exactly coms to mind instantly. The problem with Platinum is figuring out exactly who played what bass wise.Hansford Rowe is very impressive at Knebworth but to me he's playing to much of the funk slapping technique.That's just down to my personal taste though. -------------- THE COMING OF THE GREAT WHITE HANDKERCHEIF IS NIGH.
