I voted for Anita - and Northpoint ... have you ever been?

Generally speaking though it's the choirs and 'vocals' without lyrics that I prefer.

Maggie hands down(and up!;). The most liquid voice I ever heard in the '80s. I was mesmerised by that voice for so long. I think she was better than the -young- Annie Haslam.

Maggie Reilly, of course. She was so unusual and apparently so unfit to be associated with what Mike was (or was supposed to be) at the time, that she made a great effect when she sang lead on "Moonlight Shadow" - one reason why that song is still around today.

I don't like the "one reason" expression, it emphasizes one thing without listing the rest. It doesn't even state how many reasons. Is she one out of 1,000 reasons, or 1 out of 2 reasons? And I won't make an offensive joke about the weight of the reason.
So I'll answer with a similar logic: the best vocalist is the one he didn't use.

And why not?Be bloody funny hearing him trying to sing it now! He's still on telly here quite often as a presenter for Songs Of Praise. And instant turn over the TV moment. He also has a religious themed show on Sunday mornings on Radio 2.Again if i'm hearing that it's too early to be awake!

Maddy Prior, definite choice.

I could listen to Incantations all day, and I have since the 80's  ;)
