Does anyone know anything about Mike's main guitar in the Knebworth video? It looks like a Gibson L6-S, but it is neither an L6-S Custom (as used by Carlos Santana in the '70's) nor is it an L6-S Deluxe. Mike used both of these on the Exposed tour. Is it a Gibson - perhaps it was a copy that was custom built for Mike? I last saw it when Mike was interviewed on tv several years ago, so he might still have it! I forgot to say that Zemaitis made some metal plates for it for Mike.

All I know is pretty much what you've said already - that it's an L6-S which was customised by Tony Zematis...

The electrics on that guitar look the same as his deluxe - the black humbuckers and the toggle switch (as opposed to the rotary switch of the custom - am I right on this?). The controls could also quite easily have been moved.

The stop bar tailpiece is probably an addition - the metal scratchplate would I imagine cover up the holes where the strings went through the body previously.

Yes, the black L6-S Custom is the one with a rotary selector switch. I think that the guitar Mike used in the video for 'North Point' guitar solo looks like an L6-S too, but it doesn't look like any of the others, except for the basic shape, 2 humbuckers and 24 frets. Mike must have used millions of guitars over the years!! Was the black L6-S the Abbey Road guitar?

There's a great photo of the guitar on Google images. It looks like the photo was taken around 1980.

Currently the images are on page 6 on Google Images - one is a close up of the headstock, and the other is of Mike in his studio holding the guitar.
