I found this today but with the Brooklyn Organ Synth Orchestra being discovered by everyone at the moment :D, I've used the search box and gone through the forums, this one mainly, to see if I really am the first on here to notice this use of Mike in a soundtrack.

Clear Skies is a fan-produced story using elements from the games EVE Online and Half-Life 2, well received within the EVE Online community it appears; some of whom have added comments to the likes of Far Above the Clouds on YouTube.  Commenting Oldfield fans seem to be in on the experience and the creators are definitely influenced:

My time with this laptop is almost at an end, and work will limit my time to look into this further, so at this point I will merely say that I'm fairly impressed at the overall effort and I would hesitate to say that my acting would be better.  More power to them!

I have to say that this is not the first time I've heard that particular section [the heavy bells section] of that particular piece [FAtC] used as a soundtrack to something. Down here I've heard it used at least four times - two ads (one for a Volkswagen car, one for a perfume), a "coming soon" promo for a quiz show on RAI, and the trailer for Inception. People seem to pick up on the fact that the piece, especially in that particular bit, is very dramatically powerful. :)

I've had a few Clear Skies days since I first discovered the it, and posted the links to the gate battle and track listings.  It's just that I've managed to pick the days when Youtube is barely working or not at all, today being one such.  I feel I really should apologise to Ian Chisholm for failing to properly experience the fruits of all his hard work.  I'll have another go soon :/

Meanwhile... Maybe this won't be news to some of you but the third instalment was made available at the end of May.

The list of music used is not on the official site yet, but today I managed to get a very intermittent play of the credits.  Mont St  Michel is there again, along with The Inner Child, Flowers of the Forest and A Minor Tune.  I hope to enjoy finding them one day!
