I think one of the key features of mikes work is his incredible ear for sound. Although he is not classically trained, if he were, then i think he would write for orchestra in such a rich and varied way. You can hear it in his orchestrations of his own music, the way he creates textures and unusual sounds. I would say this is one of his greatest strengths as a composer.

Agree?

Been listening to Hergest Ridge this morning and couldn't agree more. Something I feel has been a bit lacking in his more recent works is the care and attention to detail of the overall sound that used to take place. Pieces like HR you can listen to again and again and keep being surprised by the many layers and subtleties of the arrangement.

Hi everyone...I'm new here. :D
Can the new album become something like the orchestral parts in The Millennium Bell / Art In Heaven consert? Just a thought...
For me the special thing about Mike and his music is the way he's handling the guitar and the way he composes his piece of work. He is simply a unique genius!  :p

Welcome Velodynamic!

About orchestra... Love the way that works on Incantations and Mont St.Michel. It always has a sort of class about it I think when there's rock music with an orchestra.
