In the interests of fairness (and seeing that MO's missed out on the James Bond role in the other poll that's running), I thought I'd create a Who one. So would Mike be any good at the controls of the TARDIS? Could he defeat the Daleks evil plans? Should he swap Fruity Loops for the sonic screwdriver? It's over to you.  :)

A younger mike does infact look like the next Dr Who, but being non violent I don't know how he would cope with those pesky Daleks.

Stop asking these silly questions  :p

Mike should make music, and do nothing, else.

Yes, yes, yes!

The Tardis could easily carry a full modern studio with instruments.  He could travel back to the 70's, get ripped and create a *triple* CD of long instrumentals (no lyrics, lots of moody accoustic work, overlaid recurring themes and judicious percussion).  Then return to the present day to defeat the marketing-Daleks and liberate music from the strictures of profit motive by releasing it over the internet for free (well, you'll have to pay a bit of money...not a lot).

Andrew (in "post-new release" wish mode...keen observers may note the similarity to "pre-new release" wish mode...)

I wish Eccleston had stayed on, I really liked his character.

One question about this and the James Bond poll. Can Mike act?

Ooohh.... a dimensionally transcendental music studio....lots of potential there. :D

You know that you have young children in your life when everytime you see that topic title you first think, "Mike as DW, Arthur the Ardvaark's Sister??" (Arthur is a popular children's book series and public broadcasting program.)

BTW (think I've mentioned this on IRC or privately but not here...could not find the evidence through my favorite exercise, ha ha) .....I love Dr. Who--have gotten after BBC-America to carry it, to no avail. Does anyone know if any US stations air it? PBS? SciFi? We seem to be Who-less. :/ When the kids and I were in the UK months ago, they preferred to stay in one evening (we were pretty exhausted, anyway), order room service, and watch DW instead of go on a ghost tour (had walked much of the day and had already been on one in London). They've been after me to find a DVD of episodes, but I'm not sure it would even be in the right region. Boo-Who. ))-;

Question: does anybody outside the UK watched Dr. Who ?

It hasn't been on Belgian television for at least 20 years, I think, maybe longer. I know there is a new series, but havent't seen it.

Well, would like to. Only caught the new series that one night, and it looked like much fun. Certainly made us want to tune in for the next episode!

DW ran for years in upstate New York, USA, though we were always several doctors behind, it seemed. There used to be Dr. Who conventions, too (maybe there still are??). Often they were in the some location as the Star Trek ones. The one I attended featured the only companion to die (at that time, who knows about now! ), wiping out the dinosaurs in the process.  :O  [edited to say the death of the companion wiped them out, not our attendance at the convention    ]

mmm, i like the sound of that, maybe the Ad campaign would look a little something like this...

Mike with Tardis

What do you guys think?

He would certanly make up for Christopher Eccleston (in my opinion the best Doctor so far)

How about it Mike? Fancy travelling through time and space in a Police box? :)

Works for me. :D Besides, maybe only his hairstyles would have to regenerate.

Lol. Just superb!
All we need now is for somebody to replace the red telephone box in the Mike and Christopher von Deylen photo thread with a TARDIS. Et voila! The 11th Doctor and his new sidekick. Please can somebody photoshop it, please...

By the way, for interested folks a Region 2 DVD box set of Doctor Who 2005 is due to be released on the 21st of November (here: http://www.play.com/play247....32679). Don't know about a Region 1 version though.

I'm not so sure he'd make a good Doctor, but I would LOVE to hear what he would do with the theme tune!

I loved his take on the X-Files theme.

Anyway for all you Whovians out there, I have a Doctor Who fan/art site at

Yeah, I think that could be interesting: some Oldfield-style guitars screeching out the theme tune - bring it on! And while he's at it, he could perhaps reinstate the middle/bridge section of the tune which is missing from the current arrangement. I do sort of miss that.

Some nice artwork on your website BTW.
