Notice that the guy who had chosen the tracks from The Complete Mike Oldfield compilation is envolved on it.But for me,I will believe when appears an confirmation from Dark Star and/or MO.com  ;)

have a look at this taken from the OMD website:-

OMD will be performing as part of the forthcoming Nokia Night Of The Proms later this year. The event combines pop and rock acts backed by an orchestra and has become a very popular event in Europe.

Other acts joining OMD on the set list include Mike Oldfield and John Miles.

I did some checking, and as I suspected it had nothing to do with high-school dances. Does it have anything to do with BBC Proms?

Hmm..of course I am now searching the kids savings jars and turning out the cushions of the couch for spare change.

Germany here I come.

There have been many "Last Night Of the Proms" type shows by orchestra's around the world, mainly consisting of light classical, maybe some popular film themes, finishing with flag-waving bombastic crashes. But from what I've read so far, this show seems to be a league above that kind of thing.

Are there any rumours as to the part Mike will be playing? Will the orchestra play any of Mike's compositions, or will Mike be a (very over qualified) band member, or perhaps just a guest spot?

<edit> munich just sold out whilst I was browsing the ticket web site!

Seems like the perfect concert for Mike to participate in; Classical meets pop. I hope they record it...

Alan Parsons appeared a lot in NOTP,first appearence in 90 and then 97...it's very very nice to see classical meets pop/rock.

You won't be disappointed  ;)

It would be good for Mike to do this if they stick to his works that lend themselves to a classical makeover plus his already orchestral pieces, Mont St Michel would be amazing live. However I hate it when they do naff orchestral versions of popular music so I hope he doesn't try to do an orchestral Moonlight Shadow for example.

This could amazing though, if there is one popular composer who could really do something interesting with this its Mike.

As if the German article wrote something similar, though I'm not professional in German. ;)
