We've done the shirts, now how about the hair? (perhaps next year we can rate the guitars or shoes)

I made my best guess on the timeline, so hopefully it's in somewhat chronological order...

01. 02. 03. 04. 05. 06. 07. 08. 09. 10.

My kinda poll! :D

The "Hippy Jesus" phase (early 70's), the early 80's shaggy dark blonde-ish creation, 90's hair (circa Amarok, Heaven's Open and TBII and of course, the "Voyager Years" are my personal favourite hairdos, but I don't think I could choose between them...

Ok, I went for the Voyager era.  It pipped the others to the post just because the whole Voyager look was just so hot...

I agree, definately no.7, the Voyager era and by far the most sexy album of them all.

And once again the guys are rolling their eyes...

Well not really, I'm actually growing a "voyagerdo" myself at the moment ;), but I think number ten suits him best. Looks sharp.

Number 10, 'cause he looks like a soldier. A soldier on duty in the Army of Music. :D

One of the great things about Tubular.net is how indulgent you all are when we gals need to release a bit of fangirlitis. It probably helps that - being intelligent, discerning, and refined ladies - after letting out a "He's so dreamy!" or two, we're once again ready to focus on the music for weeks at a time.

The close-cropped cut looks surprisingly good on him and reveals a well-shaped head. If he ever tries a 'clotty', we could have a head-to-head poll for the two of them.

A hair style named after me - what an honour. Next time I go to the hairdressers I'm going to try asking for a 'clotty' instead of a grade 1 and see what reation I get.  :)

Well I`ve just gone from a scruffy looking number 9 to a grade one number ten there myself. But in all honesty that`s just because I`m a lazy git and I can`t be chewed on to faff about with it.

I actually quite like Mike`s boyish Incantations inner sleeve look there.Even if it does make him look a little bit like a sixties Shirley MacLaine. In fact now that I think about it that`s probably why I like it.Ok Shirley MacLaine it is and to hell with all the psychological re-percussions.

For me it's the hippy jesus era.Simply cos i'm a long haired beardie and he made the better music back then and he also didn't seem to give a toss about 'image' :)

It's easier for me to vote on my non-favorites, like #1 and #4.Hippy Jesus seems to hide his beauty and nobody deserves that mullet from Heaven's Open era...

But some hairdos you forgot to add on the list:

-Discovery era.

-Islands era

-Light + Shade era

-MOTS era.

I voted for the Voyager hairdo, which fitted perfectly on the final product  ;)

As for the shaved hairdo,he once said on a interview in 2003 that it meaned a new phase in his life, since he was 50 then.It was hard to get used to,but he looks so nice on that!

Am I the only one (among the males here anyway) who thinks that none of the pictures look particularly flattering? I'm really not sure what to say when it comes to picking a favourite, although I will agree that number 4 is particularly unfortunate.

Oh, goody - looks like I'm not the only one who digs the late 90s bleached style. I certainly find it more appealing on Mike than on Paul Weller. And, at his whitest, is there not a touch of 'Race Bannon'?? I don't think there's a bad 'do in the bunch, but I guess I go more for the mature look. 'Cause that's how I roll. Ooooo... I've been dying to use that phrase for months!

Hey Sweetpea  what are you doing up again till this time ?  It's mid-morning here in the UK, having my coffee break, hope you're not up drinking beer over your keyboards again, drooling over 90s Mike. Bedtime.

"Race Bannon".

It's so sad that a bunch of people will probably have to Google that to get it!

@ Bassman: I never saw Jonny Quest, that series was never aired in Italy (Italian networks preferred airing sillier, more childlike Hanna-Barbera stuff). However - also @ Sweetpea - assuming that the picture on Wikipedia is correct, and assuming that both of you are referring to that character... well, I don't think his hairstyle looks like any one of Mike's. OK, his hair used to be white once, but it just didn't look like that. IMHO. :)

@ Caveman: he's not bald, he's white-haired. :D
