All versions of TB feature 'movements', like a classical suite (I assume Mike intended TB to be a modern equivalent of that). What follows is a comparison between the four main versions of TB as far as 'movements' are concerned. For TB 1973, I use the titles from the Amarok Player tracklist as, obviously, TB 1973 is the only version which doesn't feature titles.
PART ONE
Movement one TB 1973:The Guardian TBII: Sentinel TBIII: The source of secrets TB 2003: Introduction
Movement two TB 1973: Illumination TBII: Dark star TBIII: Not present TB 2003: Fast guitars + Basses
Movement three TB 1973: Star light TBII: Clear light TBIII: Jewel in the crown (maybe) TB 2003: Latin + A minor tune
Movement four TB 1973: Indigo inn TBII: Blue saloon TBIII: Not present (but it is in Amarok) TB 2003: Blues
Movement five TB 1973: Solar flare TBII: Sunjammer TBIII: Outcast TB 2003: Thrash + Jazz
Movement six TB 1973: Eventide TBII: Red dawn TBIII: The inner child TB 2003: Ghost bells + Russian
Movement seven TB 1973: The bell TBII: The bell TBIII: Far above the clouds TB 2003: Finale
PART TWO
Movement one TB 1973: In stasis + Pastoral TBII: Weightless TBIII: Not really present, but maybe The watchful eye TB 2003: Harmonics
Movement two TB 1973: The vast field TBII: The great plain TBIII: Not present TB 2003: Peace (also including movement three)
Movement three TB 1973: Moongate TBII: Sunset door TBIII: Moonwatch (maybe) TB 2003: Peace (see above)
Movement four TB 1973: Martial TBII: Tattoo TBIII: Not present TB 2003: Bagpipe guitars
Movement five TB 1973: Piltdown man TBII: Altered state TBIII: Not present TB 2003: Caveman
Movement six TB 1973: Southern silver TBII: Maya gold TBIII: Yet again not present TB 2003: Ambient guitars
Movement seven TB 1973: The sailor's hornpipe TBII: Moonshine TBIII: Not present (but present on Amarok) TB 2003: The sailor's hornpipe
TBIII really stands apart from the trilogy, IMHO, because at least seven over fourteen movements do not seem to be present in it; moreover two tracks from TBIII («Top of the morning» and «Main in the rain») do not have any correspondence in any other version of TB. At least, I didn't find any.
