Korgscrew Group: Super Admins Posts: 3511 Joined: Dec. 1999 Posted: Jan. 23 2008, 15:16 We're thrilled to announce that Mike will be performing music from Music Of The Spheres live as part of a launch event at the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao on March 7th 2008. He will be accompanied by the Euskaudiko Orkestra. It seems that this is essentially a private launch event for the press, but Universal tell us that they're currently looking at ways to offer opportunities for fans to attend the concert - keep watching this space! Update 6/2/08 - the Bilbao Choral Society will also be accompanying Mike in the concert Update 14/2/08 - a press release from the Euskaudiko Orkestra confirms that Hayley Westenra will also be appearing. Update 26/2/08 - The concert will be recorded and released exclusively on iTunes as part of a special package on March 17th. Back to top

I'll just have to hope it's televised on British TV as well as spanish TV and a DVD is produced ? I do hope he'll have a concert in the UK later on ...Will Hayley , Karl & Lang Lang be involved ? Those are all the details we have at the moment, so we'll have to wait and see about that. We're told that there should be more news in the next few weeks. I should draw attention to the wording of the press release "music from Music Of The Spheres" which I've duplicated in my own post - that doesn't necessarily mean they'll be playing the whole work. I'll try and get some clarification on the details - in particular, how much they'll be playing and exactly who will be invited (it's billed as a launch event). Back to top

I get the feeling that this is going to be quite a small and exclusive event, rather than a large public concert like the Tubular Bells II/III concerts. It could be that the number of tickets for fans will be very limited. Still, I really hope that we'll be able to work together with Universal on getting at least a few people in to see the concert! I have no idea what they're planning at the moment - it's something I'll definitely ask about when the opportunity arises, as I get the impression it's something a lot of people would want to buy if it was available. Perhaps that would even be a good reason to open a store on mikeoldfield.com... Back to top
