ha! I thought I recognised the Yamaha DGX strings sound! (I have a DGX-300).

This is a nice instrumental. I like the drum-work, and your guitar playing is excellent.

Some points to consider:

- The mix sounds a bit muffled to me, but this comes with experience, as mastering is an art in and of itself! Boosting the high end and mids in strategic spots/tracks might help a bit, a bass cut in some places might work to, to try to separate the bass guitar from the rest of the instruments.

- I love the clean guitar part near the beginning, but I found that it was quite overpowered by the keyboard bit. Consider bringing the string pad down a bit, and pushing the clean guitar up to brighten the sound. Also, the string patch on that particular keyboard (I'm assuming it's 049 - string ens, although I think the numbering has changed on the x05 vs the x00 series) is better for playing chords rather than single-note lines. Experiment with the "synth strings" patches, or even a synth lead patch to see what it'd sound like.

Good stuff! I look forward to hearing more.

thank you very much Ktran! ill get right onto cuting down the bass line a little, it wont be too hard - thanks to acid pro (thankyou so much again arron!!;), as for the guitar, i made the fatal mistake of leaving till really late at night to do it, and in lazyness i connected my line out straight to the mixer, so to correct the buzzing in some way i mixed the guitar as low as possible, so im re recording the guitar riff tonight or tomorrow with a condensor and its a simple matter of cutting out the original guitar with a far sharper one.

thank you!! without sounding big headed though, i hope to imporve the guitarplaying a little bit on the next recording!

thanks again

jonny

No reactions?

Listen to "edge of the world" and wonder how a 16 yo outperforms Dream Theatre  :O (well, sort of :))

No seriously, I really like the solo, both musically and how it is played.  I guess the only one not liking that solo is the guitar itself ;).
