Hi there.
I'm a massive Oldfield fan and wondered if you could give me some feedback on my recent song.
I've used Cubase 5,a laptop and a Roland Fantom to produce this song.
You can hear the song at www.myspace.com/richardgarethsteed
Cheers,
Richard Steed

It wasn't clear which track you meant!

I listened to Out To Sea and I quite liked it musically. I didn't think the vocals were loud enough, they were quite hard to make out.

Overall I like the music but felt the recording lacked depth (but then again I was listening on my laptop speakers). The guitar sounded quite good but alot of the synth sounds suffered from being obviously sequenced.

Sorry it's not all good news - but the bottom line is that I liked it!

Thanks for sharing,
Terry.

It's funny you should mention the vocals.
Because next wednesday I'm going to pay www.sessionsingersonline.com 200 pound so that there pro female singer can record my leasd vocal and harmony vocal over the top.
I'll post back on here once it is done!
Richard

Hey dude, been having a listen, lovely stuff, not a big fan of the vocal style but hey. Soundwise, the kickdrum could do with a high pass at around the 30hz mark to get rid of rumble, and it sounds a bit distorted, are you using a compressor on it? The bass could do with a lil equing to remove some of the harmonics, they're resonating far too much and make it sound a bit out of tune. Small dips on the 3th and 5th of the root with a medium q so that it translates to the notes adjacent as well should do a lot of good.

The rest of the instruments could also do with some highpassing so that only the kickdrum and the bass dominate at the bass frequencies, this should clear off the muddiness at the bottom and free up headroom.
