Hi!

Long time lurker, long time listener to Mr Oldfield. Unfortunately, listening to all this instrumental guitar music had a terrible side-effect in that I felt compelled to make my own audio occurences.

Some of my stuff is Oldfield-ish possibly? But most of it is just what it is instrumental rock guitar music. I can't categorise it. It's just a hobby. But if you would like to take the time to explore my back catalogue, or even throw a few pennies into the hat, and enjoy what you hear, then I will be a happy man.

This something I recorded back in 1999, but I've recently tarted up thanks to new audio technologies. It's called "START" and might be of interest. It's 40 minutes of instrumental stuff all linked together. It's a bit rough in places, but there are some nice vibes scattered throughout.

START

This next one is called "Textures" recorded in 2003 and again follows the same vibe of being a continual linked piece of music. I think this might be more likeable.

Textures

And finally, my last offering is another slab of sonix called "Tempest" from 2006, which can be got by clicking this link.

Tempest

If that has piqued your interest, my stuff is available on iTunes or CDBABY or if you like free downloads, you can get them all on Jamendo or even from my own website. In fact, if you like surround sound mixes, there are three surround sound DVDs available for free download direct from my side. Just bring your own DVD+R and surround sound speaker system!!!

Thanks for reading all the way down here and I hope you are enjoying the sounds!

Peace and good vibes,

Darren

I was surprised you hadn't had any replies yet...!

I listened to START but really couldn't get into it.

Then I listened to Textures. Much easier to get into and very well done. I liked it!

I haven't yet had time to listen to Tempest but will be checking it out at some point soon.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Terry.

Thank you. They get better as they go along. START is a bit rough, a bit of a bastard child, if you will, back in 1999 I was still learning to do things.

Textures and Tempest are related and more easy on the ear, probably best to stick with them.

Here's a compilation album I created a few years back of my short songs:

Easy Listening

But this one is good too...

Here Comes the Future (2008)

The whole lot can be trawled through here, the quality varies from collection from good-ish to goddamnawful... ;-)

My Discography (of sorts)

Enjoy and spread the word and if you feel generous send money for guitar strings... :D

Take care, everyone!

Hi there Darren, you have put a lot of care and effort into your recordings. I particularly liked Tempest and Textures. The easy listening tracks were nice to sit back and relax to. I hope you keep recording and if we all chip in, you could get more strings. Its nice to see how Mike has inspired you to follow his lead and be original. Peace and Love, Deb

Thanks for the kind words. Music is my hobby. I don't put as much time in as you would think and as much as I would like. It's more a matter of recording when I have the time. I've been doing this in my little room for 10+ years now and I'm thinking it is time to stop. I've never really "promoted" my stuff, so I thought it might be an idea to present it to an audience of people who have similar tastes to my own.

Just keep downloading and spreading the word. I only did it for hungry ears, afterall...it's not like I am a proper musician who does this for trivialities such as money! :P

Keep it clean,

Darren
