With those exciting news comin' from Mike, and remembering his studio equipament has changed a lot recently, with those new tecnologies,I think he's going to reinvent the concept of long instrumentals like he did in the past, musically and tech speaking.

What about you?

Na, I think it'll sound about the same as older production. The sound of recordings hasn't changed much since the 70s. The thing that has changed is the synthasizers, and I don't know how many of those he'll use.

Foreign Affair looped zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz   ...Thats the Danger
with a long piece if its not to varied and u dontlike the drift
of it like some classical records you hear youre soon putting
another cd on the player.. Id rather hear groups of Music
6mins to 15mins max  melded together ... At least with Mike
he likes his Tempo Changes so I think thats no danger !!

I don't think he's going to reinvent anything. I expect something similar to Tubular Bells II.

Wow, that's a pretty high expectation! :D

I think he wants to emulate many real instruments with software. According to his description so far, it will be another unique album. ;)

I've been looking for that every time a new album from him comes out (it's been about 18 times?) for the last 27 years.....

I suppose Mike said too much... Now everyone has the highest expectation regarding his next album. :)

Mmmmm...what's on my mind is his new long instrumental work will have pieces that can be edited as a single.

The reinvent part is related to the fact we saw on L+S that some of his tech toys are able to be part of the music without requiring real musicians, and that can be a choice for him,if he'd like to continue that "one-man-orchestra" stuff(like he once said about L+S).

I think the working relationship with Robin Smith may come into it somewhere - maybe more orchestral input? But, yes, perhaps the book has made him re-asess the incantations/exposed era.

As for the tech side, mainly he seems to use it for the production, tunes are still tunes and Mike is a master at that.

I hope that it is similar to Incantations in its capacity to launch me on an interesting emotional/spiritual journey.  I hope, though, that the journey lies on a new and undiscovered path, though maybe a few of the same herbs, flowers, and nebulae wouldn't be so bad.

Yep, maybe you're right. I hope we won't have to remind him in 2009 what he said in 2006...
