Vinz had some emails exchanges with Jonathan Mover who told him he playd with Mike, in replacement of Simon Philips, during the Peter's Pop festival in Germany, probably on November 24, 1985. The musicians were: Anita Hegerland (vocals), Ant
Glynn (guitar), Phil Spalding (bass), Mick Simmonds (keyboards), and
Jonathan Mover (drums). They played Tubular Bells, Pictures In The Dark, Poison Arrows, Moonlight Shadow, and other tracks.

It was not a real concert. Peter´s Pop Show was a playback show. Other musicians were Barry Palmer and a young guy instead of Aled Jones. AFAIR they only played Poison arrows and Pictures in the dark. The show was broadcasted on the German TV-station ZDF.

According to Jonathan, it was live !
They played several tracks including Tubular Bells ! So the broadcasting was simply an extract...

Hm, I can´t believe it. Peter´s Pop Show is an event with nearly 30 different artists, that took place in Dortmund at the Westfalenhalle. Every artist played (or better mimed) one or two tracks. I watched it again today and it was not live.

Here is Jonathan's answer :
"i do recall there being
a third track that we played to and i'm almost positive it was a shortened
version of tubular bells, although that may not have been shown as part of
the video. we definitely rehearsed it and learned a different version than i
was familiar with. it was a playback to tape for video purposes, as i
believe there were about 30 or 40 artists that did the same all weekend."

Peter´s Pop Show was filmed on two evenings (I think Thursday and Friday, but I am not sure) before the broadcasting on Saturday, 23.11.1985. On the video you can see turning the stage with Mike and the band while Peter Illmann is announcing the world premiere of a new song called "Shadows in the night" (later corrected to "Picture in the dark", which is also wrong ;-)) and "Poison arrows", which was the first track they have played.

After "Pictures in the dark" the whole band is leaving the stage and Peter Illmann is talking about the first time Mike is singing on his songs (another mistake). Maybe there was an encore later, although I have never heard of that. But there is no doubt - it was not live.

BTW: Mike was also a guest of Peter´s Pop Show in 1987 (with "Islands" and "The time has come") and in 1989 (with "Holy" and "Innocent").

By the way, everybody considers Art In Heaven as a live, which is not true either :P

well well well, i need explanation. Can I understand this :
These tracks were "recorded live" once, without audience, and played back, "mimed" the D-day ?

Question : does everything was recorded and play back (1), or did something was really live (2)?

If (2), is it even possible to consider this as a valid concert ? If we concider this like a live performance, we should add Ondas Festival to the concert list too. Yes, in Ondas everything (well, almost) is played back ! And we should add the concert with Pavarotti.
Well, maybe we should only re-consider the idea of validity... and the idea of concert too !! wink
Cheers

Maybe they have played the songs live in the rehearsals, but in the show you can hear the well-known versions from the "Discovery"-album and the "PITD"-7inch. So it is not a valid concert.

And if we consider it as a concert, we also have to add a TV-show from 1982 with the only live performance of "Mistake" and a TV-show from 1987 with live vocals on "Islands".

I'm totally Splitted off...
On one hand, I agree with you, if this were playback, it's not live, on the other hand, why does mister Mover claim that he played with Mike, if he only faked to play ?
Well, maybe, Olivier has to create a 'TV apparences' page to clear it up...

Take a look on his discography. I think there a lot of mistakes. He writes he played with Mike in 1986, which is wrong. The title of the show was "Peter´s Pop Show", not "Peter´s Pop Festival". Maybe he played too much to remember correctly.
