I believe I've procured new dwellings as of May 1. My "surroundings" for the past 2 years have not been very "inspiring", as a result my studio has been somewhat mothballed in that time. But just for laughs and the want to spend, I bought more mixers, synths and a silly theremin....sh^& to keep my music buzz. I think I will be happy where I'm going(so will Eddy, the avatar), and since I've been feeling my music buzz lately, thanks to this site and MO.......once I'm unpacking I will find a tune I did in 1992, on a CD-R in a box, which was a deliberate attempt to sound like several bands/artists including one MO. Once found, I'll upload it as a gift for all the fun you all have given me. I sure am looking forward to the change, and the Les Paul (Gibson, not Epi) I'm gonna buy as a treat after the move....oh boy!

You might know this already, but I've been told one has to be very careful when buying from Gibson these days, as the quality of the instruments is said to be extremely erratic. I had already bought one when I was told this (Epi, not Gibson ;) ), but it seems I was lucky, as mine seems just fine to me. I don't know how much there is to this rumor anyway, it's just something I've been told by people who know a lot more about guitars than I do. My band's guitarist bought an SG a while ago; he says it was the only Gibson he could find at the store that was any good (and it was a big store); still, he's had to have the pickups changed, as he's had trouble with excessive feedback, and I seem to remember there was a problem with something else, too.

Anyway, have fun with your new purchases! Always great to have some new stuff you can get excited about.

I'll keep that in mind. Either way, I'll get something nice. Anybody on here use Tunecore? If so, how's that workin' out for ya? Has anyone one made substancial sales using it? I know there are more than a few musicians here. Just curious.

A theramin?Excellent!!!!!Didn't know you could still get them.
Regarding the Gibson....in the words of Monty Python "you lucky, lucky etc".The rule,as ever,is try before you buy.I'm not sure Gibson's quality is all that bad though.A guitar is a tree in a different form so all of them are different and you may want to try 10 before you find the one that says "take me home" as it where.I tried 5 or 6 USA Strats before i found mine (my baby who is called Beth).I'd still love a Gibson, although it would be between an SG,an ES335 or the new ES336 cos it has a smalller body than a 335 and i'm queit short!Good luck with the move.

Yessir, I tried 3 or 4 mexican strats a few years ago, problem was listening thru headphones, I could hear the tremolo mechanism squeeking like doodling bedsprings on every one. Won't do for studio use, got an American. I actually didn't know what a theremin was until I got on here late last year. Saw the word, did a search on it and a lot of reading/research/youtube viewing before I bought one. I'll never consider them "musical instruments", even tho some have learned to skillfully manipulate them. "cool stage prop" might be a use for it. Or run it's output thru something like an old Arp Axxe and filter/pervert/Zappa-ize it for weird imbellishments.

Check out Whole Lotta Love in the middle.Page used one.If you can get The Song Remains The Same you can see it in use.Beach Boys Good Vibrations (the wierd wobbly bit)is another example.Strange things though.
It's a shame i live in the UK.If you're going to use it on stage i would definately come to see your band just for that! :)

Good luck with your move Scatterplot.Hope your new surroundings and studio inspire you to produce something grand with all those "mothballed" instruments there.Would be pretty cool to hear something with that theremin on it in the future.     There`s still a few people making use of the old thereamin here and there such as The Flaming Lips,Portishead,Goldfrapp etc.And it never fails to arouse my cuorisity somehow when you still see people using them, great stuff.

Imo the finest exponenet of the instrument has to be the musicican and robot inventor extrodinaire Roger "Ruskin" Spear of The Bonzo Dog Band.Who for whatever reason than he saw fit incased his own theramin inside a fake human leg.Watched him play it live a couple of years back on The Bonzo`s 40th anniversary tour, after we`d waited for., "the bloody thing to warm up a bit."..   :D A visual/musical experience I`m not likely ever to forget for the rest of my life.

You can still get them easily. The Moog is the most popular, 2nd best would be the B3.
