I know the Incantations re-releases aren't even out yet, but Universal's already looking towards the next batch and they're interested in knowing what sorts of things you'd like to see in future limited edition releases.

Here's what they say:

----------

What would you like to see in it – please rate on a 1-10, 10 for very much, 1 for not very much

a)    Exclusive audio content
b)    Signed memorabilia
c)    Print for framing
d)   Related memorabilia to era, i.e.: tour poster, programme
e)    Something higher end and exclusive

-----------

I'm told that Mike is the one who ultimately oversees the audio content, so there's a little less flexibility there, but we can pass on any suggestions and hope for the best! I also don't see any reason to not suggest something that isn't on the list (though 'something higher end and exclusive' covers a lot of bases! ).

:/ Maybe i'm not understanding very well this question ....

But if " exclusive audio content" means something ( very very ) new so i vote 10 for it !

If " something higher end and exclusive also means that , yes i vote 10 for it !

And finally , as you said , if we can suggest something else well i suggest something new , a new album ...maybe with a Telecaster :)  !!!

Mike is not an old man i think , isn't he ? so i want , i would like , i hope to listen to something new very very soon !

I'm sorry i'm not for reissues or limited signed editions and such mercantile things ..even if mixes are different even if sometimes there are some rarities ....

Unfortunately, as we're talking limited edition re-releases here, I'd say 'exclusive audio content' means archive material. The way the Tubular Bells demos were only available on the Ultimate Edition would be an example of that - might be something to bear in mind, whether you really want all the most tasty stuff to only be available on the expensive limited edition!

I'd say that with 'something higher end and exclusive' we're talking more in terms of things like the Ultimate Edition's book.

Out of sympathy for Mike's fingers I'll give the signing category a 0    I'm not a collector - I just love the music for its own sake - so I guess more archive material would get a 10.

If you don't like the signing then why did you buy the signed edition? I would give a 10 for exclusive material and I would also be interested about posters and stuff. I would love a poster of Amarok or FMO.

a) 10
b) 1
c) 2
d) 1
e) 5

The additional music (demos in particular) are one of things I've enjoyed most from the re-releases so far - more please. Don't know what exactly "high end exclusive" might be but the TB ultimate book was very interesting so additional books/notes/photos/interviews would be of interest to me to add further to the understanding of how each album came about.

I'm not sure what would be meant here by "higher end and exclusive", but if it's worth the price of a box I'd pay it. All my other marks are in complete agreement with Matt's, above here. :)

- individual Amarok tracks
- Amarok remix fan submissions
- I like LPs, very decorative (I have a room separator with "windows" where you slide LPs in)
- I don't need CDs
- I like good quality posters, frames, etc. Must not look and feel like it's not made by a shop that builds Eiffel tower memorabilia
- the "exclusive experience" has room for improvement (damaged, never received, cheap signature, insane tracking fees)

After Incantations I'm not really interested in further re-releases.

I would like Mike to compose or collaborate with something new - maybe get involved with the genres that are currently happening right now, and have a bit of fun.

Perhaps something on the the lines of an Oldfield's Dubstep Symphony.

For me...

a)  Exclusive audio content - 10
b)  Signed memorabilia - 1
c)  Print for framing - 5
d)  Related memorabilia - 1
e)  Something higher end and exclusive - 10

...just stick to the music basically,if we continue on the current pace,it would take years and years 'till we've got the full set from the Virgin era.

If this is an occasion to tell Universal our 'wish list'.... why not making a proper one?

Album by album, we could make a detailed list of tracks and things we would like to see on the reissues....

For me the audio content is most important. I don't want a step by step re-release of the Elements or Exposed DVDs. In my opinion it's e.g. useless to release the Wembley Conference Centre Concert again as all the concerts were recorded (audio). So there could have been a better choise.
My focus is on unreleased material and not on 5.1 Mixes or signed limited editions.

In another post I already suggested digital/download editions. It is a good economical addition to the deluxe editions.

That's on my agenda for the next releases:

-Original Sally
-Live concerts 1980-1984 (please not the section from
The Complete)
-All Right Now
-Midnight Passion (with Hazel O Connor)
-In The Pool Vocal Version
-Five Miles Out unreleased versions
-When The Night's On Fire Bonnie Tyler, Maggie Reilly
 & Barry Palmer Versions
-The Killing Fields unreleased Recordings
-Wembley 83 (Video)
-Pictures In The Dark (instrumental Version)
-Pictures In The Dark (Barry Plamer Version)
-Man In The Rain 1986 (Barry Palmer Version]
-Crime Of Passion 12" Version
-More Songs with Anita Hegerland, that probably exist
-The Trap

I agree. Could take 20 years!

If it was one re-release a year, Mike would be 78 years old at the end of it all, and with all his energy sapped for beginning a new album.   :/

St.Paul for president !!!!!!!!
I couldn't agree more..... and its all just common sense that anybody with a knowledge of MO's work would be able to tell Universal......Obviously somebody with no MO background is advising UNiversal, and they are making a right mess of it...
Rehashing previously released Video/Audio ....Taking advantage of the "weakness" of all MO fans.....

Yes, I'm particularly fond of that too. It's a pity no studio version apparently exists... Does anyone know the background to it (ie, was it commissioned?)

It's simple - we all want rare unreleased tracks, demo's, alternate versions.

Not many want signed stuff.

Not many want deluxe framed posters/album covers/fancy packaging

We would all really really want a new album or more live shows.  :/

The answer is 42 - but what is the question?

I'd love to hear any alternate versions of Mike's good 80's rock instrumental pieces like Crises or The Lake. Certainly any early versions of these sorts of tracks and general studio noodlings that may exist from this period. Decent live recordings would be interesting too.
I must admit I'm much less interested in 12'' versions or instrumental versions of Mike's 80's song output.

I'm not interested in signed prints but I would like to see Universal be creative and interesting with the re-packaging of all these albums. Love the new Incantations cover, really nice. When they come to Amarok they must include William Murray's little story.

So, definitely any demo versions of tracks and alternate versions. Fancy packaging is fine if its to compliment stuff of genuine interest to the fans that already have these albums.
