I forgot that there is a delay in the photo's thread, so until that link goes live, here's the link for the new universal german site with current pic's.

2005 mike & bike

thanks to alex s for pointing me to it

Like his hair colour but he has a ton of make up on which makes him look older I think.

The photos remind me of the LP cover photos from Five Miles Out. Same hair colour and hair style (more or less) and surrounded by his toys (then aeroplanes, helicopter and musical instruments).

Somebody here at this forum once wrote that Mike should have mentioned that making the new album was in some ways like making Five Miles Out. I wonder if there is a link there.....

He's looking good and well, although i wish the pics were bigger, are they all his bikes?, are these photos promo for the new album?, the hair and look remind me of Islands era Mike, which is cool.

Mike would be advised to remember what happend to Mark Knopfler 2 years ago, when he was injured after being knocked of his motorbike in London, forcing him to cancel an entire huge tour :/

I can reconize the first bike on the right,a red Yamaha Fazer 600,that he had bought a few months after TB 2003.The other two maybe are new additions,I think.

He's looking good and motorbike-boosted ;)

The pics look good!  Nice hairdo.  With regards to Light and Shade as album title.  It sounds more like a name Mike would come up with.  Has anyone heard anything official yet?  I check Play.com to see if it's on the coming soon list, no joy as yet.

Yeah I agree the TB2003 photo's of him looked terrible in every way possible. These are better but there are certain similarities, both are quite poorly lit and in forests. He looks just as mean and moody in these shots as well but he does indeed look a lot healthier. There's been a weird thing with Mike in recent years regarding his age. He seemed to age very rapidly between the 99 and 2003. During the Then and Now tour he looked about 10 years younger than he was and then all of a sudden he looked very worn out, almost like his age crept up on him really quickly. A similar thing happened to Peter Gabriel but it was even more dramatic with him. all of a sudden he put on a ton of weight and lost all his hair. If you compare Mike to his contemporaries he does look really good for his age, but you also have to remember that Mike was always the youngest of that lot anyway. Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins the guys from Pink Floyd etc, etc are all fast approaching 60 where as I guess Mike is still in his early 50's.

Hope he doesn't fall off that motorbike mind.

to me he looks like Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones) only uglier  ;)   Doesn't look like he did in the TB 2003 pics, very different, as for the bikes, that screams midlife crisis, I think he is bored with making music therefore his album won't be to the standard we're used to........... :/

If you look at this picture from tb 2003 mike 2003 its just something that bore me. I dont know what it is.
Forexample: If we do it black and white you the picture would be like this

the same thing with this bored ugly picture

This use to be with ugly colors and a horrible style (i think so)
Just when you make it black and white its just much better.
And i agree with that he was so much younger when he played Tb III. he image was very good i think. The spanish people must have been inspired him or something. But talking about this new image he have now. (crise age he he) I like it alot. I dont care if its motorcycles behind him. I dont know.. but it remains me of Guitars. Dont ask me why...

"There's a weird fellow named Mike,
whose music we all rather like.
Like a caveman he yells,
playing Tubular Bells,
and riding around (Germany??) on a bike!"

:D :D

Joking aside, very cool pics IMHO - and very cool bikes.

Referring to the motorbikes revving in the middle of "Crises", yes?

The rider on the red bike,
Waiting, hour by hour  (for the hair colour to dry?) :D
