I bought three different TB Ultimate Edition box sets and they all have problem with either songs not playing right or stereo channels dropping out and static.

I am surprised that Oldfield allowed this type of quality to get out. Anyone else experience the same problem?

The TB Ultimate Edition has unfortunately become notorious for having lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of problems. None of them are to blame on Mike Oldfield (as he wasn't involved in the release other than doing the remixes): they are to blame on Universal. However, I've never heard of this. If you are playing the TB demos from 1973, it's normal that the stereo channels drop out - the demos are really like that. But it shouldn't happen on any other song which is not a demo. On which songs does it happen?

Hi Badddrx7, its a shame that all three sets had problems. Ugo is right in saying that it wasn't Mike's fault they ended up that way. He does the remix, then Universal handle the production and qauilty of the finished product. I hope the same quality of sound problems is sorted out for HR and Ommadawn. If the demos don't make the grade, maybe its best they are left off. We need to be sure that what we will pay for is worth the cost. Hope Universal do the right thing. Deb

I thank you for the responses folks. It would of been good to see "something" inside the box set that explains this. I have TONS of Oldfield and was quite surprised to say the least to hear this quality released as an Ultimate edition. I really like the CD-3 Demos. I'd like to hear it without the channel cutting out though.

Oh well, the book and lp are nice.

Oh, it's track 4 on CD-1, skips, carries one terribly. Cannot really hear what the old dude is saying.

Is your like that ?
