This very composition was posted last autumn. This is just a better sounding version, with several tweaks in the mix and much improved mastering.

If anyone is interested, here's a complete description of the instruments used and other technical information:

I will in a month or so post a new composition, less Oldfieldesque and much longer than any of my previous attempts.

Hey!

It's great to see you around again! Just listened to the new mix... excellent as usual. Man... my guitars are calling me... ;-)

Now that I actually own Amarok, I can hear a lot of the influence there... heh... very cool.

I just had a look back the advice you and Korgscrew gave me a few months back. I've just gotten a whole whackload of new instruments and equipment, and I've taken on a paid project arranging someone else's music. Hopefully I can take the new gear and my new experience and do good things with my own future work. Again, thanks very much for that.

I'm very much looking forward to the new composition, no matter how MO-like or non-MO-like it may be.

rgds,

hmm, well. the sound of this track is bassically an mo rip-off. but, with that said, it was still enjoyable. :-) i don't like the beginning but it gets better as it progresses. i'm looking forward to your next one. i hope it'll be, like you said, less Oldfieldesque.

An impressive track. I haven't heard what the original sounded like, but this is well recorded. The guitar sounds throughout are very well thought of and professional. The only sound I don't like is the odd bugle horn. An electric bass would have been better

I'd suggest thinking of a way to join the Blues section near the end to the other sections surrounding it. I think this part would also sound better without the sampled bodhran, though I like the use of it at the beginning. Overall you could make the first two parts a bit longer and develop them more. This track still has lots of potential

Looking forward to hearing more from you

What can I say? This is very good! Mike Oldfield influences are everywhere (the intro taking a little from Greg Lake... err, The Lake, and Amarok through the rest), but it still has some sort of identity of its own. Moody and atmospheric, though it sounds a little... aimless at parts. Perhaps it needs more development, as if the distinct parts are begging to go somewhere and have some sort of conclusion. I dunno. If you work on this track more, I'll definitely be willing to hear it. As it is, it's very good.

I just re-discovered this track in my "fan tracks" playlist, and i forgot how good it is.

It reinforces my opinion that Mike has got weaker as his students have got better.

Can't open the link, and can I put this on an mp3 file?
Tracy.
