Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before......

With the release of The Platinum Collection which of Mike's songs are yet to see a CD release.

Not too bothered about different versions (12" / 7" etc)

Hope you can help.

Many thanks - Derek.

I might be wrong (it wouldn't be a first...) but I believe that the Platinum Collection marks the first time Pictures In The Dark has been issued on CD.

Tony :)

-Don Alfonso (but it seems that is the monoaural audio of the video included on the Elements DVD, so the stereo version is still not released on CD)
-Guilty - Long Version (the normal version is included on some compilations that exist on CD but not the long version)
-To France - Extended Version (once again the normal version has been released on CD but AFAIK, the extended one has not)
-Pictures In The Dark - extended (the normal version has been released on the Collection compilation but the extended was only available on vinyl).
-Shine - Extended Version (neither the normal nor the extended versions has been released on CD til now, the Elements DVD is the closest to this point)
-Islands -12" Mix (the same as To France)
-Flying Start - 12" Version (the same)
-The Time Has Come - 12" Version (I'm not sure if this version appears on the US version of Islands)

And not included on this compilation there are Pipe Tune (very beatiful track), MO's Single (and all the original edits of TB), Ommadawn 7", Don Alfonso (german version), In Dulci Jubilo (for Mayreen), Wrekorder Wrondo, The Trap and Music For The Video Wall. I think it is all ;)

Sorry, Just got off a plane - jet lag (Stavanger to Aberdeen!!;).  If you are new I should be clearer with my answers.

Most of the albums are out on CD, but as you specifically ask for Singles.  Do you mean specifically single CD's or just those issued previosly on Single CD but now 'on' CD somewhere.

I think alot of the earlier singles were included in the extended Elements 4CD boxed set.  I also have a few 4 track CD's of mixes and later stuff - like Tattoo, The last song on Tubular bells 2 which various voices - Billy Conelly, Alan Rickman etc., Also some house mixes of some songs The Bell I think - again from Tub2.

I dont think I have seen Pictures in the dark as a CD single but it's on Mike Oldfield collection from 2002.

I cant thnk of anything else just now.  Hope that helps.

Cheers  Ray

PS  I just noticed that elements 4CD set is not listed on the Discography on tubular.net, I'll submitt it if not one else does before the weekend - but i'll have to type it in - if anyone has got it electronicaly please mail me to saver me the effort.

:)

The extended version (or rather, the full version) of PITD is on a German compilation called EAMS (Vol. 11). And it's NOT a vinyl-to-CD transfer... it's a CD version. Or at least it sounds like it is. :) I wonder how did they get hold of the master... :)

-Flying Start - 12" Version [...]
-The Time Has Come - 12" Version [...]

These are all on the Platinum Collection, whose main point of interest (at least for me...) is exactly the presence of all these 12'' mixes. As for PITD, see my post above. :)

Edit: Don Alfonso is indeed the video (mono) version. What a shame.  :/

NEW EDIT: PITD on Platinum Collection is the long version. I just discovered it. This makes me very happy. :)
