Great! I was missing the lack of cover tracks over the last months

First of all can I say how refreshing it is to hear songs covered with vocal tracks. Quite an improvement over your last dancier cover. There are obviously areas for improvement regarding vocals, but I don't feel like nitpicking about them. The effort you made far outstrips any imperfections

As for the backing it perhaps felt a bit dragging at times. This was sometimes due to timing issues in the percussion tracks, but also with the density of the mix. It sounded a bit saturated with the strings, maybe some parts were a bit loud in comparison. A sparser mix with the emphasis on reverb might have been more atmospheric.

In particular I thought the Tubular Bell sound at the beginning was quite loud and out of place. However, the synth guitar sounded very convincing and accurate - I'm wondering if a real guitar was actually used

Greatly appreciate your comments, Jammer.

The tempo is actually quite slower than MO's, which in turn made everything a bit more difficult. (Especially trying to get sustain out of bending the hell out of the 24th fret on my guitar.) Not going to quote Ringo this time bout the '...blistahs on mah fingahs.' Although I just did. :D

Electric and 12 string guitars were used, no synth guitar.

Hope the overall feel got through. Again, thanks for your helpful feedback.

Julie

Wonderfull  interp. of  the original.  The vocals are highly emotive and the guitar captures Mr. Oldfields sound quite well !  I would love to hear a non-Mp3 version as their is some distortion but I am not complaining!  Very bold of you to undertake this, especially the singer.

Thank you for the comments, everyone, they're much appreciated.

Yuval: I used OD, reverb and compression. My guitar is a Schecter Black Hawk, which is actually a replica of their least expensive guitar, the Omen. I usually always mic my little Vox amp.

The neck on all Schecters that I've played reminds me of the PRS action, but better in some ways and much, much cheaper.

Vox amps rule!

I now have two of them. My main amp is the P15SMR (2x10" Pathfinder), and I also have the cute little AC1. No recordings with them yet :-(

Your guitars do sound quite nice. Which little Vox are you using?

EDIT: errrr... I went to try to listen to the song again. What happened to the link... I'll see if I still have it on my HD somewhere...

rgds,

Hi Ktran,

My Vox amp is a Pathfinder as well. I think it's a 6 or 8 inch speaker and it's 15 watts. It's kind of basic; OD, trebel, bass and volume controls.

Sorry about the missing song, we'll try to get it back up in case you couldn't find it on your computer.

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

Hey Nemo,

Just out of curiosity, where did you get the patch you are using for your avatar?

Hi.
North point

Oh my god! What a masterpiece!

The singer sings like Maggie Reilly
and the chorus, like Sally Oldfield :)
