I'm so happy I have been there! I was about to not going -you know, "just 30 minutes of typical Mike's music"- and what a big error that would have been. I enjoyed a lot, not only Mike's performance, but the whole event.
That was great how the kind of music I usually don't like made me smile, like Chico & The Gypsies (with everybody, myself included despite my shyness, singing well-known songs), Tony Henry (whose voice really touched me), or the classical pieces, for example. Seeing all that live, with the orchestra and chorus, and in first line, was fantastic.
Mike's performance came at the end. I think most people thought he was going to be the first, and somebody told me that. There were some false signs of him coming to stage, specially when the presenter said "You'll for sure recognize these first piano notes" ..... ..... . At some point of the concert the public was quite nervous; but, at the end, while the orchestra was playing a piece, a guy appeared carrying some guitars and leaving them in the middle of the stage, and suddenly.... WWAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!! I think the acclamation to Mike's guitars was bigger than the acclamation to himself!
Then there was no doubt... he came to stage, smiling, and said "Un momentito" ("A little moment") while picking a crib sheet... That phrase still mades me laugh; at that moment I really would have squeezed him like a cuddly toy . Then he said some words in spanish: "It's a big plaque for me..." hehe.
Having seen a pair of videos of the NOTP in Germany, Mike's performance was more or less the same. A pity, because most time his guitars just blended with the rest of the music, except for two or three solos. At least he played his little parts very well, and I was able to see in person his typical face and body gestures I've seen many times on video. To me, he really seemed to be enjoying.
Well, that was just my very personal vision of the event. As I have said, at first I wasn't going, but, at the end, I regreted for not having bought tickets for Madrid.
