I know the title is silly (and bad), it doesn't mean anything (as Orabidoo) but it's a remix of one of my older tracks and I gave it that name in 2001. It's totally different in style from my other music posted here, it's comparable to In Dulci Jubilo and The Sailor's Hornpipe from Mike but the melodies are not traditional. :) You'll hear that it's far better in sound quality than my older attempts. That's because this is my first finished work in Renoise and that tracker supports VST instruments.

Anyway, here it is: Oclamoorie

I'm curious who likes this style. :)

I think its really cool
it lack some human feel to it, but we are all familiar with the downside of working with midi.
I love the instrumental choices u've taken there.
The off bit bass.
(the endig gets way too fast & too quick to my ear)
Great job eaton
good luck.

Do you mean that even Mike couldn't play it that quickly? ;)

Thank you for your comments! :)

What I meant is, first the tempo, yes- I think its way to high, and second.. it gets from slow to fast in a very short time, try to go for some more rounds :)
good luck

For some reason I missed this when it was first posted, but better late than never. I think this is great fun, and many thanks for posting it. While it's playing I'm either smiling or tapping my feet or wanting to get up and skip around, and that can't be bad.

The only part I don't like is the speeding up towards the end. It speeds up too abruptly - but actually, I'd much prefer it if it didn't speed up at all - even if it was just a fade-out.

Very cool. Shows great knowledge of Oldfieldian development. Had this been done with humans involved, it would have been an absolute killer.

Thank you for the great comments!

Uh-oh... I suppose I should really make a version without the speeding-up. I admit that it was a hazardous idea, it seems that it's only me who likes that part.

Unfortunately this track is only cumbersomely editable because it takes very much CPU power in Renoise, I can only play half the tracks at the same time. :) Additionally, it takes almost 15 minutes until it loads.

In a track like this, it's not a hard task to reach an Oldfieldian development (IMHO). Not much more than adding more and more instruments in a logical way.

I wish I had the possibility but I like composing more than learning how to play some instruments properly. I'd be surely very happy if someone played these melodies on real instruments but I certainly wouldn't ask such requests myself from anyone. But I should really learn to play the guitar. For the meantime you could consider these computerized versions as some kind of sketches.

I spent my whole yesterday with remixing and remastering the track so that the extended version is now finally downloadable.

In fact, this length was the original one, the formerly here presented version is actually an edit as I didn't have any good effects for the cut-out section. I might still puzzle about more creative ways to express that this isn't a serious track. ;) Additionally, you can hear some changes here and there, e.g. the ending is now less quick. If you listen to it with headphones you could even notice the less obvious changes as a result of remastering.

The link: Oclamoorie (Extended Version)

But if you hate the new parts, I can upload the remix with the edited length.

Oh I love it too, even more than I did the earlier version. I wish you could have seen my feet tapping, and my arms jiggling about, and the laughing at the little beeps and burps in the middle. Gorgeous. Thank you.

The only thing I remain uneasy about is the speeded-up ending, and I'd still prefer no speeding up, but just a fade-out. But perhaps I suffer from some kind of speeded-up-ending phobia?

EaToN - Well done mate, this is an amazing little tune. It really had me tapping my feet. You should be really proud of this!! I take my hat off to you.  :D

Thank you again, guys! :)

As I read your posts, I feel that you like this track more than me. ;) Though it's strange for me reading about my playing as I can't play any of these 11 instruments properly. Maybe once... I'm thinking about buying a tambourine and bodhran first, maybe they aren't that hard to learn to play.

Maybe there will be a Fade-out version as well.

I'm not usually a fan of folk music but this is lovely, and it stays with you, i'm still humming it. Very pretty, prefer the longer version too.

I was going to post a reply on this the other day because it is indeed a lovely tune but,(don't know how to say this in musical parlance) the background tap, tap, tapping spoils it for me.This is in no way a critisism though-just feedback because I'd love to hear it with a different backbeat ie:a more subtle sound that dosen't distract but just enhances.
It never ceases to amaze me just how good some of the fan tracks are & the time & dedication that's gone into their making. This is another one that really deserves some recognition .

Well, it seems that there is no music that everyone likes, is there? ;) I had problems with that bodhran as I imagined it sounding just like the one in Portsmouth but I suspect that it isn't possible with these samples I have.

Thank you for commenting!

EeTon - I can't get this song out of my head.  I would love to hear some others from you.  Do you have others you can share?  Is there a CD?
