Basically Malta is joining the EU this year, and they are having a big celebration for it,Roger Waters has spent the best part of 18 years writing an Opera, well he is writing the music for it,it originaly had lyrics in French, but there will be 2 versions now,an English and French version,it is called Ca Ira,and was meant to be premiered at the French bi-centennial celebrations in 1988,but this was never going to happen,as it proved a big thing to do for Roger,so,Roger kept working on it for ages,(years),and now it's almost ready to be released,15 minutes of the opera have been heard live at The Royal Albert Hall in London a couple of years ago,Brynn Terval the renound Welsh opera singer and Roger's golf partner is singing in the opera, and there was a rumour Peter Gabrial had something to do with it,but that has not been confirmed. So,what does this have to do with Mike Oldfield?.
Well, the commitee in Malta have a short list of people to perform at there celebrations, including Roger Waters and his opera, which is going to be played over loud speakers to a big light show, and there is talk of getting Mike Oldfield to play Ode To Joy on a floating barge in the harbour, but check out the above website for more information.
