Thought I'd start a new topic, because there is a lot of music related to oldfield which is incredibly interesting. This can be music on which he actually plays, or music made by artists who played with him in the past.

What I mean is, The Tom Newman albums Fine Old Tom and The Hounds Of Ulster for example. Or Rime Of The Ancient Mariner by David Bedford. Or Pekka Pohjola. Also are there any other fans complete fascinated by the music of Pierre Moerlen (Downwind or GongLive79 for example)? What do you think are interesting albums to listen to, related to Oldfield?

While exploring Mike's musical links, one will eventually encounter Bieito Romero. People usually are suprised when they realise that the great "Song of the Sun" (Voyager) is not a genuine Mike's composition, but an interpretation. BR is a leader of the spanish group Luar na Lubre, and it was one of the first Mike-related paths I personally explored. I've found LnL's albums very interesting, especially "Plenilunio" and "Espiral" which are the "easiest" to listen, I think. Other albums I also consider good, but that's (as always in music) a matter of personal preference. I encourage everyone to take a look at LnL's music (but be prepared for stunning vocal, especially on first albums :)). Unfortunately, their albums are quite difficult to buy (at least in Poland, where I came from).

I had composed a very detailed reply to this thread but lost it all for the click of the wrong key. I am pissed off and gutted and I am going to bed.

Goodnight.
