I was wondering if Mike has ever played more than one instrument at the same time? If not, I'd love to see him do that - even if it was for 1 or 2 numbers at a live concert! There's a bit about Duster Bennett doing a recording like that on the Mike Vernon interview on Paul Jones' show on Radio 2 website if you wish to catch it! I know it's difficult to do, but I think it would be fun to see Mike do it - as he's know for being a one man orchestra!

I suppose he could strap a large foot operated drum to his back, strap cymbals round his knees and a harmonica round his face and play all these whilst strumming the guitar. Might look a bit silly though, Mike's no Bob Dylan.

You're right in that it would be nice for Mike to show his intsrumental versitilty on stage, but then again these days it would nice for Mike to play anything at all on stage. Mike is not and never has been comfortable live performer. That fact obviously go's along way into explaining why he's not a musical acrobat live on stage. Though he did play the Vibraphone in the Essential video at Knebworth and he played the mandolin during the Sailors hornepipe when I saw him in 93.

ps I'd much rather Mike showed us his instrumental versitlity on his albums for a change. Instead of his dubious talents for programming drum machines and sequencers. (Yawn! That old argument)

Maybe Jon Anderson's formula which he used on this current solo tour with MIDI guitar and pre-programmed bases should work for a one man show.

Mike certainly has played a lot of different instruments (live)over the years - separately. I wish he'd been a one man band live at most of his concerts over the years - especially when he was younger - as he said in a recent interview that these days he finds it hard to do several things at once, like he could when he was younger!
