I usually don't like listening to orchestral music that much but I find I am really enjoying MOTS (I am firmly in the "best thing he has done in ages" camp). Is this because it is particularly good orchestral music or am I am just giving it more of chance than I would other pieces of orchestral music because it happens to be by Mike?

Regardless of whether you have heard clips or copies of MOTS or not - do you think the fact that it is Mike will alter the way you listen to it compared to other orchestral music?

Like you, I rarely listen to Orchestral/Classical music. My ears are so used to the Rock'n'Roll pallette of drums, guitars and synths, etc I find it hard to pick out all the details in an Orchestra.

But, because this is Mike, I have played MoTS over and over, getting into all the detail. So, yes, I am listening to this in a different way to most Orchestral things.

No doubt when I buy the official release, there will be even more to hear.

I'm in the same camp as you Matt - I never listen to classical music deliberately but I have been listening to Mots at least twice every day for about a week. I probably will not try out other classical pieces because of this as it simply is because I love Mike's musical arrangements, no matter what instrumental format they happen to be in (prog rock, folk, electronic, classical etc). I particularly like his orchestration and it translates well using classical instruments. Plus, I love the emotions and spiritual nature that emanate from his music :-)

I love classical music, so all of the above kind-of doesn't count for me. :D However, this being Mike O. is definitely a plus on it. ;)

I've been into classical music since I was a child(my dad loves listening to),but with MOTS,it was a good reason for me to listen to my dad's old classical music LPs and CDs.

Listening to classical music has helped me to enjoy instrumental music...which I something I do like a lot.

I've only heard the clips of MOTS, not the whole thing, but I'm liking what I've heard so far.  I'll be buying it, and fingers crossed I'll love it, but it appeals to me because it's Mike Oldfield, not because it's orchestral.

I can't say I dislike classical music though, seeing as I've never really listened to it.  Though even if I did want to get into it I wouldn't have a clue where to start!
