Quote (tansy @ Sep. 15 2005, 09:42) | J Here are some of mine: Silver Machine - Hawkwind. Brings back fun time spent in friends home. Two young "hippie" wannabies getting ready to go out on the town. I decided to do "daisy" eye make up,went out & all the girls asked me to do theirs the same. So,finished up spending the rest of the evening in the toilets(bathroom in some other parts of the world)making all the others look good & missed out on my chance to impress the local talent
Paranoid - Deep Purple
Like I said, they just all bring back good memories. Now come on,be honest! |
Hi Tansy, I thought that paranoid was by Black Sabbath and not Deep Purple. Well I'll let you off, oh Hippychild of the '70's, you've been there seen it done it bought the T shirt etc. Shame that you missed the local talent though, In 1971 I was a mere babe in arms. . BTW Great idea for a topic.
Here goes then with some of mine, I may embarrass myself as I was a youth of the "Thatcher Era" 80's. If I look back on old photos of myself now I think "What did I used to look like?"
Rolling Stones - Street Fighting Man, My Dad has been a Stones fan since about 1963. One of my earliest musical memories must be doing this dance where I'd be throwing punches at someone or something( a hypothetical person or thing).
Mike Oldfield - In Dulci Jubilo/Portsmouth, didn't know these were by Mike at the time, but always make me feel so happy. Seem to make me think of Christmas/ Yule, and bouncing around on my spacehopper.
Queen - Bicycle Race- again didn't know ths was by Queen at the time, seem to remember playing with my Legoland, when I first heard this.
Mike Oldfield - Moonlight Shadow, David Bowie - Let's Dance, the Police - Every Breath You Take, Robert Plant - Big Log. I feel 1983 was the start of a difficult youth for me. I always find myself "singing" along to these songs, and turning up the stereo , especially with Robert and Mike. Happy memories at a difficult time for me personally speaking.
Queen - I Want To Break Free, I feel this song changed my direction musically, I guess the start of me liking decent music rather than 80's pop. Saw Queen's performance at Live Aid, so it began my love of Queen .
-------------- I'm going slightly mad, It finally happened, I'm slightly mad , just very slightly mad
If you feel a little glum to Hergest Ridge you should come.
I'm challenging taboos surrounding mental health
