Just imagine, you're going about your day when suddenly, you hear a song or certain peice of music, and at that moment there you are ,re living a pleasant memory.
It dosen't have to be a musical masterpeice, could even be a comedy/novelty song. Whatever it is ,it means something really special to you.

Here are some of mine:
Silver Machine - Hawkwind. Brings back fun time spent in friends home. Two young "hippie" wannabies getting ready to go out on the town. I decided to do "daisy" eye make up,went out & all the girls asked me to do theirs the same. So,finished up spending the rest of the evening in the toilets(bathroom in some other parts of the world)making all the others look good & missed out on my chance to impress the local talent :/

All The Young Dudes - Mott The Hoople
Life On Mars - David Bowie
Groovy Kind Of Love - The Mindbenders
She's Not There - The Zombies
2468 Motorway - Tom Robinson Band(don't know if title remembered correctly)?
Paranoid - Deep Purple
Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay - Otis Redding

Like I said, they just all bring back good memories. Now come on,be honest!

I'll always remember Cat Stevens 'Moon Shadow' because I sang it in a school choir when I was 12.

'Tubular Bells' of course for being the first and always piece of music to ever really move me.

At our wedding we played 'Sweetest Hangover' (I don't want to get over) by Diana Ross and the Supremes. Today would have been my 26th wedding anniversay, if I didn't get divorced!

And a song we made up when my youngest Adam was born to the tune of 'Marty Moose' from the first Vacation movie.

Whos the beautifullest boy we know, Adam Lee
Whos the star of our favourite show, Adam Lee
A is for Adam, as cute as can be
D is for Daddy who puts him on his knee
A is for absolutely wonderful boy
M is for many many moments of joy
A D A M L double E
A D A M L double E
Adam Lee
Adam Lee
Yup! that's me! (said by a 1 yr old)

And another one we made up about Adams Dad

Nicks droppings
Nicks droppings
smell better
than Nick does!

Ah! Sweet memories!

Oh and a favourite at the moment is by the band 'Butterfingers' called 'Yo Mamas' (on the top of my things to do list). It makes me feel still desirable at my matronly age and it has a line in it where he is rattling off the other things on his list that includes 'speak Maltese' which I am, just strikes a chord.

I hate getting up early. I didn't even realise there were two 6 o'clocks in one day!

Sting - Bring On The Night / When The World Is Running Down You Make The Best Of What's Still Around

Fantastic memory from 1987. But I can't say why.  ;)

Paranoid - Deep Purple

Hi Tansy,  I thought that paranoid was by Black Sabbath and not Deep Purple.  Well I'll let you off, oh Hippychild of the '70's, you've been there seen it done it bought the T shirt etc.  Shame that you missed the local talent though, In 1971 I was  a mere babe in arms.
:) .  BTW Great idea for a topic.

Here goes then with some of mine, I may embarrass myself as I was a youth of the "Thatcher Era" 80's.  If I look back on old photos of myself now I think "What did I used to look like?"
:/

Rolling Stones - Street Fighting Man,  My Dad has been a Stones fan since about 1963.  One of my earliest musical memories must be doing this dance where I'd be throwing punches  at someone or something( a hypothetical person or thing).

Mike Oldfield - In Dulci Jubilo/Portsmouth, didn't know these were by Mike at the time, but always make me feel so happy.   Seem to  make me think of Christmas/ Yule, and bouncing around on my spacehopper.

Queen - Bicycle Race- again didn't know ths was by Queen at the time, seem to remember playing with my Legoland, when I first heard this.

Mike Oldfield - Moonlight Shadow, David Bowie - Let's Dance,          the Police - Every Breath You Take, Robert Plant - Big Log.   I feel 1983 was the start of a difficult youth for me. I always find myself "singing" along to these songs, and turning up the  stereo , especially with Robert and Mike. Happy memories at a difficult time for me personally speaking.

Queen - I Want To Break Free,  I feel this song changed my direction musically, I guess the start of me liking decent music rather than 80's pop.  Saw Queen's performance at Live Aid, so it began my love of Queen

:)  :D .

No,no,no do not "let me off" Moonchild(BTW you can take a bow/or not :O for having a part to play re:my new "nick") ;) unforgivable to credit one band with another's great masterpeice.I listened to both bands a lot back then, and often can't think of one without the other in mind-but still no excuse.
And that's it - go on,rub it in even more,[QUOTE]In 1971 I was  a mere babe in arms

Goodbye Tansy, Hello Groovy Granny :) .

I know I was a mere babe in arms in 1971,  but given the opportunity I would  love to be able to have my youth in the late '60's /early '70's, much better music, fashions and attitude IMHO . Of course I'd need to borrow Doctor Who's TARDIS , and somehow reverse my age .

Well, I do feel as if maybe I'm having my second youth now, after spending eight years caring for a disabled husband, now really needs professioal care. I feel as if  sometimes I've felt much older than my 34 years.   To go for a night out required a great deal of planning, checking as if a venue is wheelchair accessible, if Tim didn't want to go , then had to try and find alternative care, difficult at times    :( , I've often felt about 70 years old.

Is there room for a pillion passenger on your Hayabusaplease Mike  .
