mmm, i own a boss gt6, not a line 6 pod
i think that the amp model is not the most important
i'd say that the best is not to set the drive to the maximum level (if you can play lound, then less distorsion is good), to try to find tones with only few trebbles for 70-80 distorded sounds, but with more for most recent albums.
for the clean sounds, i use a compressor, classic wah, delay
with start guits or humbuckers guits, it depends on the times.
