Here is an animated video, with super 8 clips, featuring a restoration project doll Blythe, getting up to mischeif in Paul Harrison's notorious video Dark Light, my brother has composed the music, is in the still pics, done the animation, I edited the video together.

Enjoy!

Have just seen this video and I think it is absolutley fantastic. I love the animation of the doll. It kept me watching all the way thorough as it was mezmerising. It has a lovely quality about it as you have captured something here.

What software and camera did you use to do this as I would like to get into producing my own videos? I have a photographic grounding and feel I could add this to my music.

Excellent stuff.

Ian.

Hi Ian, thanks for the kind reply :-) I use studio 7 software, its excellent as you can separate the audio from the video and do all sorts of strange and fantastic things with it, plus its at a budget end price, as compaired with Adobe Premiere, which probably is the industry standard, but a fortune to purchase.  My brother Paul did the animation on super 8 film camera, one that actually broke down during the animation of that doll, hence the flash frames, which I thought made it in some ways LOL! Then he transfered it to digital video, by filming off the wall.  I just edited together with some stills, I think the stills are the weakest part of it, as I didn't have quite enough footage to make up the song, as I needed some of Paul but we just didn't get around to filming through one problem or another, but some people says it adds a mystery about it, an that song is quite long over 5 mins eeeak!!!

I think you can get studio 7 video software from pc world, depending on what kind of camera you have, make sure you have the right camera to go with either digital or analogue inputs, I have both, and sometimes you have to use a tv card to get analogue inputs into the program, I wish you good luck with your videos, editing can be real fun, and very creative :-)

Paul Harrison? What is that? Sounds like a sort of Beatlemania project (goes along with Ringo Lennon).

It's his real name, his full name is Paul Martin Harrison, with your concept in mind you could point out that his middle name was used because of a certain musical guru named George Martin. However, it has nothing to do with Beatlemania, if you check out Paul Harrison's details on his Myspace page you'll find that he was born in 1958, I also have a friend who's name is John Paul Harrison, he is 49 years old so the fab four didn't have any influence there either.

Back on track, this is a pretty neat little video, the doll animation is quirky but has a certain quality about it, as ian has already said - it's mezmerising to watch, and I really like the music too.

Well to complicate things even further our dad is named George Harrison, but no link honest to the Fab four, although we do like them they are good :-)

Please feel free anyone to add Paul to their Myspace :-)

thanks for the comments, great :-)

Hello,
I also have checked up the “Paul Harrison’s Dark Light video”. I’m very interest in how musician done there own videos without any record or film company. This is, so I think, a very good example. I’m very impressed about the film and how it is done. It’s very original with a especial atmosphere in it and the music, especially the guitar part is that way I like very much! Go one with your music Paul!!!!

Greetings from Germany

Thanks Langdana, I think as long as you have strong ideas with video storylines they can work well, I think its ideas more than big budget money that counts, even to say its the struggle that does count, I think the less you have the more you have to think hard to come up with something thats going to impact visually.  Both my brother and I are quite lucky as we have had training in video production so we know how the flow of a video goes traditionally like the way music pieces can flow.  The brilliant thing about now is everyone can have a go on their desktop at home, its not just reserved for the wealthy to enjoy, so have a go!  I love editing, can be very rewarding. We are working on our next video, which is going to be a lot more thought out this time, still lo-fi theme, so watch this space LOL!
