Ive been listening to Paul Simon's new album streaming on http://www.mp3.com/albums/20104670/summary.html
Its fantastic stuff. His usual sensitive and subtle songwriting, beautiful fingerpicked guitar work and he's in great voice for a guy in his 60's. The lyricss are also fantastically poetic and evocative. A little undercurrent of political/anti-war stuff but nothing too heavy at all. "Wartime Prayers" is incredibly beautiful:

I'm trying to tap into some wisdom,
Even a little drop would do.
I want to rid my heart of envy
And cleanse my soul of rage
Before I'm through...

The real surprise though is the sound - Its a collaboration of sorts with Brian Eno (a genius in my view who links most of my favourite music together) and it's incredibly fresh. Modern without being over the top, very atmospheric and dreamy in places and quite funky in others. It's by far his best work since Graceland, and i'm beginning to prefer it actually - the ethnic stuff has become a little cliched to my ears! I'd highly highly reccommend giving it a listen...

Released here on the 5th of june I think...
