In every which way you put it Pavarotti's death will be a massive loss to the world of music.

Sad to see him go, but on the bright side he lived one hell of a life.

Speaking of which; I remember reading an article in Q magazine (I think it was) in the early/mid 90s which documented an event where both Pavarotti and Mike Oldfield played (but not together as far as I remember). I remember something about these two having an exchange of words backstage.

Could this be correct? Some kind of charity concert?

I can always remember my grandfather loving to hear the performances of The Three Tenors. He passed away last December, and coincidently we had Pavarotti's rendition of Nessun Dorma as the music for the walk to our seats (damn and blast it brain, what is the term???  :D )

I began to appreciate his voice a lot more after I heard some of his more restrained works, rather than the typical belters that my grandad used to love. He had what i consider to be a lovely timbre, even in lower volumes and tones, it was a well rounded sound. His collaboration with Elton John on Live Like Horses typified what I mean.

A great loss to music... now we look to our current and future generations for someone to step into the void he left to take opera and classical music as a whole on a slightly different course. I favour Andrea Bocelli's style, as I feel he also has a wonderfully dynamic and rich voice on all levels.

toasts here's to the great man and everything he achieved.  :)

Everyone's interpretation is different, and everyone has a right to that opinion. There is no "right" one, I am adding this post to communicate my thoughts to share them with like-minded souls who will be able to comment in good nature.

The thing about Pavarotti I remember best was the wonderful song he did with Bono, Miss Sarajevo.

Sends shivers down the spine...

Hmmm... funny... must be my first post here in
a year...  :)
