Hi

I wrote this piece last Autumn and finished it off after a visit to Cornwall after visiting a few standing stones. Click link below:

Pentre Ifan on Soundcloud

I think if it sounds like a Mike Oldfield track then it may fit well on his Voyager album (which is one of my favourites).

Pentre Ifan (for those who dont know) is an iconic burial chamaber in Pembrokshire, West Wales. The folky music seem to fit right with the stones.

There is also a You Tube video of the music with pictures of Pentre Ifan and other pictures where I live:

Hi,

I downloaded this a few days ago and I've been listening to it a few times.

I really really like it - but I don't think it's really Voyager-like. The percussion is too powerful but it does have a celtic feel to it. I'd say it's BETTER than any track from Voyager apart from Mont St Michel.

To get the loud sound you might have overmastered the track a bit though... the loud cymbal that comes in really sounds overcompressed but maybe that's just how the base sample sounded....

My wife was listening tonight and she said that if you released an album of music like this she'd definitely buy it. She says 'pretty please with knobs on'! I guess that's some kind of local expression where she comes from :)

Cheers,
Terry.

Its one of my favourites to date. Tell the missus she can download it now so she don't need any knobs!

I think I would re-do it now and take some of the produced loops out and make it a bit more 'real'.

The drums are a bit mushy and yes the cymbals scare the shit out of me now when they come in!

I'm looking into the 'cd' issue as I want to play my music in our cafe/B&B we run as I won't need a PRS license!

Also, when we finally go back to Pembrokshire I want to sit by Pentre Ifan and play this track. Closure!

Martin

Thanks Wiga

No, I'm afraid to say this all came from the MIDI keyboard. I changed the strings to something a bit more authentic and the choral effects are new. The drums got a rework and of course there's the addition of those Scottish Pipes.
