Hi everyone, I've been listening Mike Oldfield's music for many years but I don't own many records. I have got only these:
- Tubular Bells (1973)
- Tubular Bells II
- Crises

I don't have much money so... Would someone please tell me, which record should I buy next???

And... What is that MAESTRO-thing???

...Thank you...

You can find more information on Maestro at Mike's official website. If it helps, it's part of a series of interactive 3D games known as Music VR

Most of us would probably suggest you got Mike's entire back catalogue :) but as you say you couldn't afford that straight off I would suggest the next album you got was Ommadawn. Try and work through the back catalogue in chronological order if you can. I think this is the best way to experience Mike's different styles

Hi Ruzzako,

we've had similar requests before, and there is so much to hear from our Mike....

Over the years his style has changed, and he has had different "periods", from the intense long compositions such as TB, Ommadawn and Amarok, to the mid 80's vocal work like Crises, Heavens Open to the newer "chill-out" such as Songs of Distant Earth and Tres Luna.

So, what you should buy next depends on wether you want to stick with the stuff you like or want to stretch and experiment.

If you like TB, go with Jammers choice of Ommadawn. search this site for descriptions of Mike's albums, and the threads that discuss them.

If you liked crises, try Discovery next. If you want to see how Mike has moved into the 21st century, try TSODE or Millenium Bell. But if you want to experience the most mind blowing, musically extreme journey, and are prepared to put ALL pre-conceptions aside, and want to hear what can correctly be called a classic of our times - buy Amarok, clear the room, turn out the lights, take the phone of the hook and listen to 60 minutes of wonder  :O

Hope that helps  ;)

The answer is 42 - but what is the question?
