Hurrah!!!  :)

After years of having the Pierre Moerlen's Gong album 'Downwind', in my wish list, I finally got hold of a copy via Amazon and I must say it was worth the wait!

The focal point of the album is the 12 minute title track featuring some blistering MO guitar work and solos. If you've not got a copy of this album, you simply don't know what you're missing. Highly recommended!  ;)

The title track is fantastic, however I have to say I could never really get into the rest of the album. The thing is, I'm pretty sure that the part Mike appears on was also written by him, even though the whole track is credited to Pierre Moerlen. But it just sounds so typical of what Mike did at the time. The rest of the album, and indeed the rest of the track does not measure up to its greatness. Pierre Moerlen is a great drummer and a fantastic vibes player but not a very inspired writer IMHO.

I got it a few months ago when I saw a copy at a CD Fair, and I love it!

If you think that one track sounds like Santana, well yes he did that track himself!
