Pink Floyd did play in Venice in 1988, it was for the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour, the first without Roger, They were the first and only band to play Venice, but they had to play on a huge barge on the water, the local government were very worried about it all, because they did'nt want the fragile buildings destroyed by the huge volume the band create, but it all went fine.
Delicate Sound of Thunder, was the live CD/Video from the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour, and was filmed in doors, so, not from Venice, i think it was recorded in U.S.A.

I know this (great) concert. I saw it on TV when it was live-broadcasted in a lot of countries all around the world in july 1989. The correct date is not 1988 but July 15, 1989. One of the last concerts of the long Momentary Lapse Of Reason Tour. It can be found with eDonkey/eMule (the video or the audio only). This is not a commercial video.

(The live Delicate Sound Of Thunder video was filmed at Nassau Coliseum, New York, in August 1988, with some scenes filmed at the Château de Versailles, in Paris, in June 1988. I don't know where the 2 CDs set with the same name was recorded ...)

Captain Cavern is spot on!

I saw Floyd at Château de Versailles, in Paris, on Sat July 23 1994 it was out of this World really amazing and whilst playing the Encore there was a thunderstorm directly behind the stage fork lightning every ten seconds or so, looked like God was powering the light show - even Dave Gilmour could'nt help but chuckle whilst singing when he was told about it best GiG Ever! - I found out someone videod it and it is a great copy! I would so love a copy of that  :/  :/
