Tony Levin has put a few leftover bandnames into public domain on his page, maybe you'll find something there:

There's one I thought of a couple of weeks ago, thinking of those "geographic" bands with names like Europe, Kansas, Asia, America,  and UK (two or three of these are progressive).

Name the band after a certain city: Prague.

Sounds like Prog :)

Don't forget Boston  :O   ;)

Prague is cool, I think 'Blegdon' is a possible rival to that suggestion  :D

The Quaker United Nations Office?

If I had a prog band, I'd name it Genesis. It is not like anyone is using that name anymore.

Everyone's interpretation is different, and everyone has a right to that opinion. There is no "right" one, I am adding this post to communicate my thoughts to share them with like-minded souls who will be able to comment in good nature.

Actually it's my brother's nickname. It's a great word for a logo + the letter Q can be turned into a head smoking a pipe.

BTW some of the worst band names ever has come from neo-prog bands. I mean "Spock's Beard". Come on!

Name the band after a certain city: Prague.

You could go for something more progressive and call it Milton Keynes. Well, it was a new town, wasn't it?

You could go for 'Sea of Crises' if you want something longer (=higher prog points value - save up enough and you'll get a free guitar solo timer*) than Crises.

Instead of philharmonic twang, you could have 'Harmonic Twine'...perfect for music with many different threads to it...

*When people first receive their guitar solo timer, they think it doesn't work. Actually, it does - just twist round the top half to the 'solo start' indicator and you're all set. Don't expect it to move, like the top of the more familiar kitchen timers does - time for the solo to end is indicated by all the band getting up and going home, and the lights going out. Usually, anyway - dedicated prog artists tend to see this more as an indicator to move to the next song.

Which, incidentally, is not a bad name for a country-classical band.

(The Philharmonic Twang! Their first album "Live at the Grand Ole Opera" features special guest Yo Yo Ma playing a very large fiddle as he covers music by Batch and Choppin' )

The Junkyardigans. I came up with that name crossing over Little Robots with The Backyardigans. I thought it sounded funny, but you've got to be willing to go lawsuit happy if you want to pick it up. :)

I strongly suggest you don't keep the name if you aren't 100% happy with it, as you will become more and more unhappy with it over the course of your career. Since you've attracted interest from labels, you could just tell them right away you're going to change the name, I don't think it'd be a problem.

I'm afraid I don't have a good suggestion for a name right now though.

well you see, im happy with it, and after further consultation with the band, they dont really mind anymore, its gotten deeper now than our appearance, i mean, 3 years is a long time for a 16 year olds, so i think wed be best just to stick to it, i mean, with all the stuff we have to do, rename website, all the past cd covers weve done, it just doesn't seem feasible, ya no?
