Following on from the Stanshall/Cleese debate i have had another idea.If Mike ever decided to do TB yet again (as if the 2003 wasn't perfect enough for the man)who would you like to hear as MC?Personally i'd love to hear the Swedish Chef from the Muppets (my hero).Just imagine for a moment that voice announcing those insruments.I can easily but my head is sometimes very odd (ask my bandmates).
Your suggestions can be anyone, living or dead, film characters, yoou name it.
Yosamity Sam perhaps?

Stephen Fry is a great admirer of the great Vivian Stanshall. And of course has a marvelous tone and timbre to his voice himself so he would get my vote I guess.

Failing that maybe somebody like Spongebob Squarepants or Stephen Hawking.Or Spongebob Squarepants impersonating Stephen Hawking would be quite unique.

I`m not a big fan of his 2003 version. In my mind I would`ve thought someone like Clement Freud would have been much more suited to that album.

My five picks, in no particular order (why five?-because I'm a glutton):

1)  Stewie from "Family Guy"
2)  Regan/Pazuzu from "The Exorcist"
3)  Richard Burton
4)  Humphrey Bogart
5)  A tie:  HAL-2000 from "2001" or B-9 from "Lost In Space"

Checking back, there was a similar discussion prior to the 2003 release of Tubular bells, if I manage to link correctly you should find the discussion in this topic from tb2003.

Interestingly some similar thoughts then including Stephen Hawking!

Watched Star Wars over the weekend and i woulld be so cool to have Yoda.Threpio would be good.Or Chewbacca.I still think Spongebob/Stepphen Hawking win though. The fly in this ointment is that,as was widely reported,Mr Hawkins' 'voicebox' is apperently failing. The company (and i promise i am not making this up)that originally made it are no longer operating. The pracical upshot is that the voice we all know may have to change. It did put me in mind of the South Park episode where the Vietnam Vet lost his voicebox and had to use a replacement.

On the field (live concert) you can't beat Jack Bauer (24 TV series) "right now, glockenspiel", "mandolin, god dammit"

Or maybe Gordon Ramsey (UK chef with a reptation for turning the air blue)?

"What the f**k do you call that! I've heard better playing from a f**king 2 year old, Mandolin for f**ks sake, sounded like a man making a f**king din alright. Whats next? We need to finish in three f**king minutes. Tubular bells? F**k this up and I'll f**king be chewing your f**king balls!"

Woody Allen approximation "glockenspiel, the aural illustration that God is an underachiever" "visual too" (echoing) "hell is tubular, take the tube of listen to that if you don't believe me: tubular bells"

I'd like to have as the MC someone who's not English, or whose native language is not English. The "MC Otto" version of "The Bell" sounds great IMHO, so maybe an Italian actor - maybe an internationally-known one, like Raoul Bova? - would sound very nice. :)

EDIT: Oops, I didn't read the thread-starting post too well. :D Living or dead? Film Characters? Well, then let the whole of Monty Python have it. Or Dr. Evil from Austin Powers. Or GĂ©rard Depardieu as Obelix in the Asterix & Obelix films. Now that would be fun.

Columbo "glockenspiel, my wife loves those" "how much did you pay for this mandolin?" "just one more thing, tubular bells"

Steve Jobs "grand piano, its back is nicer than the front of JM Jarre synths", "bass guitar, insanely great" "glockenspiel, pretty cool huh?", "boom", "mandolin, the best we've ever done" "double-speed guitar, $599, you'll hear it in 2 months" "one more thing, tubular bells"

How about our very own Inkanta, seeing as she is "MC" (actually M-C)? :D
