Portsmouth Football Club fans are currently voting to choose music for their team to run out to before home matches. Mike Oldfield's 'Portsmouth' is currently winning.

Really?? That'd be amazing!

Still wouldn't be enough to tempt me away from supporting my beloved Rams, though... ;)

Everyone's interpretation is different, and everyone has a right to that opinion. There is no "right" one, I am adding this post to communicate my thoughts to share them with like-minded souls who will be able to comment in good nature.

Here is a snippet from VitalFooftball/Pompey. I think Mike won!!

(Quote)

"I always liked it when we came out to the classic 'Portsmouth' theme by Mike Oldfield, it is unique in as much as no one else can really use it can they as it is a song for us! It might be seen as too old fashioned now and it might not fit in with 'where we are now' but I always liked it when I heard this played.

To be honest as much as I like the clichéd ones like 'simply the best' or 'let me entertain you' and so on, as they do get you pumped up that Mike Oldfield one always worked for me.

What the poll asked - What music should Pompey run out to before home matches?

How you voted - Portsmouth - Mike Oldfield 38%, Jerusalem 18%, Simply the best - Tina Turner 9%, Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes 8%, Enjoy Yourself - The Specials 6%, We are the Champions - Queen 5%, Return of the Los Palmas 7 - Madness 4%, Land of Hope and Glory 4%, Hurry up Harry - Sham 69 2%, Zoom - Fat Larry's Band 2%, Moonlight Shadow - Mike Oldfield 1%, Hate to say I told you so - The Hives 1%, Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf 1%, Song 2 - Blur 1%"

It appears that Mike has run away with the poll!! but i suppose the Pompey fans see it as been unique in having their own song!!

I cant see it working at Elland Road mind you. Leeds running out to Cuckoo Song???

Actually, I'm just up the road, in Chesterfield!

Back on topic for a moment... Cook's tune would be perfect for Middlesbrough FC - it being Captain C's birthplace and all...

Unfortunately "the Sunken Forest" would be my team's tune in recent times.  (But maybe "Flowers of the Forest" next year?)

I know what you mean, ThinMan... I think our tune should be Crisis this season, or perhaps Mr. Shame...  :/
