I was wondering if Mike only picks up and plays instruments when he wants to, or does he keep his practising up on all of them?

He says that now he doesn't practise the guitar, but only plays it when he's recording. That would apply even more to the other instruments, I'd think.

Whether he used to practise the other instruments regularly, I don't know. I find that when an instrument's there, it begs to be played every now and then (or maybe the voices I hear calling are in my head...) and there are times when I'll want to play one a lot more than the others. Perhaps it's the same for Mike.

Do you know if he still plays harp? I saw a couple of recent photos in 'Dark Star' (a few years ago) of Mike with a harp, even though he doesn't seem to have released any recordings with harp on in the past few years!

Just seen this old topic and I'm curious as to when M.O first began to learn to play the Harp & if he found it relatively easy/not to accomplish?
I've always thought the Harp to be a most beautiful sounding instrument & love to hear it played . :)

1) Is this the case for your Theremin? :D
2) Do you think Mike can, or did he ever learn to, play the Theremin?

:)

I don't think Mike would have much trouble moving his hand do you? LOL

Oooh might buy one of those  :)

P.S I find that if I don't practice my air guitar it doesn't make that clear sound that it should do...... ;)

Mike must have learned harp in the mid-70's, as he first played it on 'Ommadawn'.
